Summer New England FrankenFest GTG - Clinton, MA Saturday June 27th

With the blessing of the organizers of this gathering, I'll be bringing a basic repair bench setup to the Fest, and will be offering a general cleaning/bias/offset/overall operation checking service. Tube and solid state equipment welcome. I'll bring a basic assortment of fuses and perhaps some resistors but in general I won't be set up for intensive service, so if you have a unit that has given up the magic smoke, I likely won't be able to fix it on the spot. A $40 bench fee will cover all above mentioned checks, and a consultation on the overall condition of the piece(s) you want me to check out.

I talked to our gracious host Fran today - we're good to go!

Some notes-

Please keep 2 parking spots adjacent to the loading dock on the street side open for active loading and unloading.

One half of the "Big Room" has been rented. SInce the room isn't divided Frank is seeing if we can use the unrented half - I'll post if he gets back to me - otherwise we'll know on Saturday.

In some ways - while the "Big Room " is great - but - people tend to stay in there and don't make their way to some of the other spaces upstairs. Explore, follow the smell of burning amps!

As usual the hallways and Frank's space will be available.

The smaller upstairs room will also be available - I think we should do the A/R Turntable seminar up there - as well as some demo systems.

Vic of Wiktor Amps is going to do to do a tune up. Vic runs a shop in Cambridge so he knows what he's doing. Plans are for setting up a little service station with a basic bench including a scope, signal generator, soldering iron and some load resistors and offer an on the spot cleaning/bias adjustment/diagnosis type of thing. My understanding is that he will charge a flat fee for this service.

I also made signs for the upstairs listening room. At the last gathering, seems many were unaware of the room upstairs.

I'll be demoing the "Angelicas" GW find speakers.

Sure wish I could join y'all. I'm finishing the permissions and design of a book I started writing in 2003 (!!) and time is of the essence in getting it to the printer so no chance for a play day. Have fun!

Pony Express - Scituate, MA area to Clinton?

I bought a Sansui 8080DB in pieces a week ago and both the very nice seller and I completely missed that the faceplate and bottom plate weren't with the main unit when I took it. They are resting comfortably at his house in Scituate rather than with the Sansui in Arlington. Doh!

Is anyone coming to Clinton from the South Shore or Cape area? If so, I could have the seller (also named Dan) bring those pieces to you for delivery to me in Clinton. Please let me know if that might be possible.

Have to sit this one out. Having an open house:boring::boring: Saturday followed by a birthday party. My avatar has turned another year older. Time sure does fly.
