I still prefer the Sundays' version, but it was pretty impressive.

You know, I had exactly the opposite reaction. I was underwhelmed. I'm not a big Stones fan, but Mick Jagger was very emotionally involved with this song, and it comes through in his singing. Susan's cover was pretty, but missed the emotion, IMHO. I kept waiting for the line "I'll ride them some day", which she inexplicably left out.

Yup. That gal can sure sing. I tend not to like covers, but I think she made this one really work. I liked it.

Funny, I've never watched these shows but was flipping though the channels last night and as I flipped to the show the announcer mentioned her name and I decided to stop and watch only to hear her. Wifey thought I was going funny on her. The final winner was a chicken collector or something like that, a rather unusual occupation. Susan's voice for being untrained was amazing, it would have ben interesting to see what she could have been had her life been a bit different.

While talking to my wife she said that the winners of these shows had it made, not sure about that and my only response was to her: 1) what was the name of the group that beat her, 2) do they have an album, and 3) if they were the winners, why is it Susan is singing on the show and not them. I hope her album goes gold.

There's a grit and neediness to the Stones' version that she missed.
I dig the Flying Burrito Bros. version as well; and I believe they recorded it first...

Personally, I thought Boyle's version was too "easy-listening" like...

Just listened to the FBB version (here), and it is the best version of this song ever recorded.

Well, technically, the Stones recorded it first, but the FBB released their version first.

Prior to its release on Sticky Fingers, Gram Parsons convinced Jagger and Richards to allow him to record "Wild Horses" with his band, The Flying Burrito Brothers. While the Rolling Stones had already laid the track to tape, the Burrito Brothers' version was actually the first to be released, appearing on their second album, Burrito Deluxe, in April 1970, one year before Sticky Fingers.

It doesn't float my boat, too much of a "pop" arrangement for me, but then again, the Stones version is on of my favorite songs, period.

The piano, instead of guitar, accompaniment turned me off too. I quit watching it after the first chorus
