Susan Boyle 'Wild Horses'

My story on Gram

Back in 1970 or 71 The Flying Burrito Brothers were to play at my High School El Camino Real in the San Fernando Valley at a lunch time concert in the Gym. Gram during our Nutrition break came to the quad area dressed in pink from head to toe and weathered sexual slurs about his orientation and i swear the boy barely got out of there without having his ass handed to him. The concert never happened that day because two of the members were busted smoking reefer in the corrective weight room and were promptly arrested by LAPD and hauled off. damn I had a ticket for that show, what a bummer.:smoke:
As far as Ms. Boyle's cover of Wild Horses is concerned,America may not have talent but she does.

While talking to my wife she said that the winners of these shows had it made, not sure about that and my only response was to her: 1) what was the name of the group that beat her, 2) do they have an album, and 3) if they were the winners, why is it Susan is singing on the show and not them. I hope her album goes gold.

  1. Diversity is the street dance group that beat her.
  2. I don't know much about them but I don't think they sing. So unless they have original music, the only album they might put out is some dancercize covers.
  3. Susan Boyle is an internet pop-phenomenon. An underdog-human-interest-against-all-odds story. Fueled by her youtube clip in front of an apprehensive judgmental audience -- that was won over ending with a standing ovation. What can be a better story? What can better bring in the ratings?

Her album became Amazon's best-selling album in pre-sales.

That said, I thought the Wild Horses performance was disappointing only because of expectations of created by past knock-out performances, and the fact she really isn't the greatest singer (it's the story).

she really isn't the greatest singer

niether was Janis Joplin but she had something and so does Ms. Boyle. Her voice to me is damn fine and I bet half of America wishes they could sing like a songbird. but as usual it's a matter of opinion.

Really no argument intended. I was attempting to honestly explain the phenomenon.

It was inspiring to see in a later show when her voice cracked, but coming through to nail it towards the end.

I was totally enraptured and rooting for her to win and wish her the greatest success.
