Garrard 95b - what is the black spring type strips function? I removed the screw thinking it would loosen that particular arm. It didn't, put it back , what did I do?

I think it's part of the trip mech for the multi-play spindle. It's been a while.

Was on a dried up grease mission. Auto start was locked up

What were you trying to loosen and why? The trip pawl (193) will need to be cleaned so that it moves freely so the tonearm moves it at the end-of-record and starts the auto cycle. It needs to move freely enough that you can blow on it and it will move. Here's a short video of how free it needs to be. (From a Zero 100, but it applies the same to your 95.)
