Tandberg Reel to Reel...

i am looking for information concerning the tape speeds of the Tandberg model 1241 reel to reel. does it support the common 3 3/4 and 7 1/2 ips speeds?

Have you googled it? I am not familiar with that particular unit but do you own it and are not sure of the speed function, or are you in the process of obtaining one?

anyway - your Tandberg 12xx deck should support 3 speeds - 1 7/8, 3 3/4 and 7½

Yes, they have 3 speeds, at least if the motor isn't stuck. They sound very good, but usually suffers from bad contact in the function selector switches.

the information from this site is confusing. as it shows the tape speed at 71, 31, and 11 ips!
i know the tandberg is made in norway but i dont think 71 inches per sec is anywhere close. so a typo most likely.

holy cow, thats what i was really looking for. thanks again. you can google things in many ways and search the results for hours and still not find the information one is looking for. or just go to a forum like this quality site and receive your answer in no time from audiophiles like yourself...

Hi John,
I have an old 1221X which I get back in the early 1990's.
Do you by any cahnge have some of the knobs or know where these may be obtained?
The most are missing on my recorder!
