TDL Electronics Owners Thread

Apologies for the late reply but work comes first I’m afraid.

Ok, I removed a bolt from the midrange unit. It comes in at .19 inches diameter and has 24 threads on its 3/4 inch length so I’d say it’s 10-32 unf. It will take an M5 nut but an m5 bolt is to tight into the captive fitting.

Thank you for taking the time to check for me i will order some 10-32 unf x 3/4" today :)

Goodaye all

l have a number of pairs of TDL speakers and they get daily use.

2 pair of studio compacts, in the garage where l spend a bit of time.
1 pair RTL3's spare at the moment.
1 pair of near field monitors, bedroom speakers
1 pair of Nulcea's 2 bookshelfs, rears for surround sound.

The best sounding l think are the Studio Compacts, trying to find another pair but are rare in Australia.
All apart from the Compact's have been recapped.

And l am keeping a eye out for more and chasing a spare tweeter for the RTL's
l think they are a underated speaker here in Australia.

regards Bruce

Just to subscribe to this thread I will mention that I have Super Compacts. Haven't listened to them in a while but they are nice 2 ways.

Hi. I am Frits from The Netherlands. Just found this thread. I am stereo addicted since the 70's. Bought my Marantz 3200+140 in that period. And I was always fascinated by the exploded view drawing from IMF. Had a lot of different speakers: Celestion, B&W, Tannoy and different Dutch Hepta's. Some time ago I bought a mint pair of completely refurbished IMF ALS 40 MKII. Not a real TL but they sounded very very nice.

Then I found out that TDL was the successor of IMF. I found the TDL 0.5 including stands also in good condition but with a Seas tweeter replacement. But they where no match for the ALS. Although listening to the little ones for a longer time was a pleasant experience still. I sold them and the ALS after I found the TDL Studio 2. Finally a real TL! The older ones with the aluminum strip around the baffle.

They sound great in my man cave and I am very happy with them.

Hi Frits,
The drivers in your Studio 2 speakers look very similar to those in my super compacts. Mine are smaller stand mount speakers and are ported.

Hi John,

The woofer is 17 cm in the Studio 2. I saw a Studio 3 for sale here in NL. I wonder if there is a big difference between them.
I could buy mine for a very good price. The owner from the Studio 3 is asking more then twice the price I paid for my 2' s.

Now proud and lucky owner of 2 mint Studio' s 3 with original stands.

I bought them in Germany including original stands. The speakers are huge and so is the sound.

Nothing is to be offered for sale except in the Barter Town forum which is only available to AK subscribers.
