Technics counter weight sl-1200/sl-1700

Hi, just asking if a technics counter weight from a SL-1200,
fit on a SL-1700 arm?

yes it will fit but, the 1200 counter weight is heavier.

Which 1200 and which 1700? The MK2 versions of the 1200, 1600, 1700 and 1800 all use the same counterweight. The "MK1" 1600, 1700 and 1800 use a different weight but, as Stanton said, it may fit. The 1200 "MK1" uses a totally different type of counterweight, no compatibility at all.

I guess it would be tricky, looks like they made more then one run of the gold TT.?

Seller is saying SL-1200 gold. counter weight.
Deal is I just like the color to match my Ortofon Concord gold cart.

The SL-1700 made in 1977 was the first version, not the MK2. The gold counterweight would be from the SL-1200 LTD, a tarted up MK2. That means the counterweight is different from the one on your 1700.
