Technics SL-D4 opinions and thoughts

I've been thinking about picking up a linear tracking tt and came across a Technics SL-D4. There doesn't seem to be much information out there about it. Any thoughts, knowledge or opinions? TIA.

Looks like one of these 80''s low cost linear deck to me.
It could be fantastic or pretty bad.
Linear trackers when not done properly is worse than an arm.

Sorry for the necromancy but I have one with a M97lt on it and it's very nice, doesn't do anything wrong. Does anyone know why this tt was forgotten in the technics linear tracking tt hierarchy? I can't find any info on it.

Looking at the list of sales regions on the front cover of the Service Manual over at Vinyl Engine, the SL-D4 wasn't sold in the North America. They were sold in overseas PXs, so some of those probably made it back to the US and Canada.
