Looks nice and I like the light weight tone arm but

This might be a bit off topic but let me say that there is an art to packing turntables, my last ebay TT looked like it was a nice one before it was shipped to me, box had lots of packing all around the TT but no packing inside, so once the heavy platter came off you can only imagine what it looked like once it got to me! Arm was destroyed, the cover broke and dents all over the top of the TT itself.

Auction claims to have the original tone arm box, so he should. Weather he knows that the black widow arm is worth coin, probably not else the seller would list it and get a ton more hits. The way it is listed the only folks that are looking for a Technics TT would see it, and of those only a fraction would know what they are looking at on site.

It looks like the arm might be broken at the headshell. There is either tape or shrinkwrap right at the back of it.

It might be a really lame attempt at wire management, but I wouldn't purchase without knowing for sure.

Yeah I thought the same thing - if you look close it looks like there is the end of the wand under the tape but not at the same angle as the arm wand. Looks like the seller taped the broken piece there for the new owner. :thmbsp:

Looks like a possible patched up fracture couple inches back from the cartridge mount. Also the mount is a huge 8° off. Extremely funky ass tonearm wiring. Hard to tell whether the mount got snapped. Proper screws missing on the arm base.

Nice arm but it looks beat up. I bet the stylus looks real interesting.

Well, members, I'm the poor-slob who bought this table!
Yes, the ebay ad seemed like a 'fat-chance' ,but I gained in 'taking-a-chance'. I paid $203. + shipping of $26. for a $200. + table, and a $325. to $475. "Black-Widow" arm. Imagine that?
The item was delivered packed better than a 'straight from the factory' unit.
I must say the table was dirty as hell, however the "Black-Widow" is in pristine condition and although I haven't hooked it up yet, as I suspect it may need new wires or so as I have read,but I haven't even gone that far yet. Those loose bearings scare me, but I guess that's how they are?
The arm is not broken as most thought it might have been, in fact it's shining and beautifully clean. I have it in my lap right, we're gonna be 'good-vinyl friends', I'm sure! I believe it may be the aluminum model, but it could be the carbon-fiber version, I haven't determined yet?
Admittedly I spent over two hours cleaning the whole she-bang all up as I don't want to touch a machine that has been touched by countless hands of people for over 37 yrs. I'm funny that way. I was in the Navy ('68-'71') and worked on 130 WW2 mothed-ball ships in "philly" 'PNSY" and I know 'dirty' war ships and their controls, 'propulsion,' radio, 5 to 16 inch guns, etc., etc..
She's a dirty girl (but I still love her), meaning there are a few finger-print stains that will take perhaps multiple cleanings (I'm a freak about things being clean and hopefully touched only by me after the cleaning process), but this old bitch is clean and ready to be placed into service by me, 37 yrs. after she was born. The table has been running for four plus hours now w/o an adjustment necessary after I adjusted the below platter pots.
The arm seems pristine, I removed all of the electrical tape and all and it's intact, but I suspect it could be a broken wire if it might not work (a simple re-wiring job with Cardas or other brand), as I have not metered the wires as they are very fragile in this arm, maybe tomorrow. I haven't done any electrical testing as of yet on the wires, I could be wrong, but it's simple anyway.
The arm cleaned-up extremely well and it's shining beyond belief, almost brandy new.
I'm not being boastful or spiteful here or even 'I got more here and you don't' , I'm just claiming that I took a chance and seemingly won on it. Thank GOD for it all, maybe I came out ahead another time, it's all a very rare thing for me.
Respectfully to all members, but I'm happier than a pig in mud and feces.
Where's deliman and beatcomer when I need them?

P.S. I see that after removing the SME board-plate that this SL-120 has 3 and also 4 hole mounting screw holes with-in the plinth. I've read that, it was these tables had only four hole mountings, this is a nice surprise for me, I can go in any direction with tone arm choices.

I stated that 'she's' all in working condition and more.
The simple task of re-wiring a tone-arm is not so difficult!
Seek more information about this subject matter please. Regarding my situation, you and others will agree I'm in a good place and that I was very lucky.
I respect your thoughts and opinion, however speaking of my task at hand is a simply and obviously a simple one for low-mass and high compliance cartridges that I use.
I hope that you wish me luck and happiness, I trust that you will.
Thank you for your comments, but, fella, I'm in deep thought of happiness as I will be using only high compliance cartridges and this 'Black-Widow' arm coupled with my AT-150MLZ and a Shure Type 4 with S.A.S. stylus and they are just begging to be hooked-up to the table and arm I speak of. I have a number of systems and still in my number one system I use two SL-1200Mk.1's and is my main source, of course CD plays a second fiddle in all my systems.
I thank you for your response just the same. I can say at least that time will tell as you suspect of my rantings of my 'great' and almost unbelievable good luck. I hope you might agree, not doubt you will in short time. Of course you have your own opinions and I will welcome your feelings regarding my new acquisition.
