How about those Queen CD releases from the 90s?;)

In all seriousness, I'd put Bob Marley - Legend, The Best Of Muddy Waters(the old late 50s one), and The Ramones - Ramones Mania up as personal favorites.

Squeeze's Singles: 45's and Under is a great one, the later-and-longer CD-era Greatest Hits improves on it, in my opinion.

Leo Sayer - All the Best. Never see his name here and probably don't need to ask why. Anyway I like him.

I'm not a big fan of her later work, but Madonna's The Immaculate Collection is quite good. Heart: Greatest Hits 1985-1995 is also quite good.
I do agree that Hot Rocks is really good - while the Stones catalog is so deep and wonderful, this is a very satisfactory introduction to them. Good suggestions on here overall!

I'll thow in a live one. Ozzy Speak of the Devil is basically a very well recorded best of Black Sabbath double album.

I like the OPs choice but this has to be the best one ever on a single platter...the Steve Hoffman mastered MCA CD is easily found and a bargain.
I was playing the CD at work and my co-worker, who knew nothing about Hoffman or remastering, remarked on how well this cd sounded. I think it is a Canadian import.

Great choices so far. A little more off the beaten path, I'd nominate Bruce Cockburn — Waiting for a Miracle. Great collection spanning his career to that point, and with a few new/remixed items.
