The Biggest Con-Artist or Idiot Going!

Thank you, VintageNut...

I learn something new everyday about ebay tricks & scams. The more I hear, the less I trust anyone!

It is amazing to me how someone will take apart something, and put every little piece up on ebay. I wonder if it's worth all their time, and if they make any money doing this? Maybe I should go and pull off the volume knob from my SX-880, take some close-up pictures, and try to sell it for an SX-1980 knob! (If it's not the same knob, I will take real dark, fuzzy pictures!) :D

How did you find out this seller had another user ID? By accident or by searching?

I got a 2nd chance offer a couple of years ago on some Altec Model 14 "cabinets only". I didn't trust him at all until we had a long phone call, and he let me pick them up at his house. I bought the grills and a horn/driver while I was there. He turned out to be a real nice guy!

He has 77 of those gold plated set screws for 9.99 a pair. . .Not to shabby. . .

BTW the jumpers go with a 1980 faceplate./ Sweeter pill to swallow. . .

I for one am not a buyer. . .

Yep, he changed the auction on the jumpers, it says revised on the description. The original jumpers auction was for the jumpers only, no faceplate. Watch his auctions, I bet he changes the more expensive listings to .99 cent auctions before they close.

Oh yeah, you sure can, I sold a SX-980 power switch, which is good for other models also, for 46.00 recently. The receiver was in really bad shape cosmetically and also had blown outputs on one side, those impossible to find plastic outputs.

i dont know how rare that knob is or if other receivers in the pioneer family use the same one but if i had a receiver that was close to 2k in price and i needed a knob for it id gladly pay that depending on how rare they are.you can call me nuts but too each their own.i have been looking for a particular knob for a fairchild preamp and if one ever came up even at $200 id grab it.

those jumpers on the other hand are a joke and easily fabricated.

I would think that knob could just as easily be fabricated for less than 200.00. Looks like it would take me brother an hour at most to make that.

This guy also has been trying to sell an SX 1980 for over 2 years. He first listed it as new in box with NO pictures. Then on later listings he had very grainy looking pics. I emailed him numerous times asking him questions but he would never respond. Hmmm...

He's an odd one, that's for sure. His other ID was something like Compaqq, if I remember correctly. I guess he wants a buyer who asks no questions, and just sends him a boat load of money for a purchase outside of Ebay.

Avoid this guy. I forgot to add that his price on the 1980 was $2500 at first, then he reduced it to $1800. I would'nt trust this guy with my worst enemy!

............I suspect that come Jan 15 when his eBay invoice arrives he's going to be
sucking red ink.

Fear not, Dec 27 was 10 cent listing day. His trolling for suckers will cost him one silver dime.

The 1980 faceplate is missing the glass. I sent him a note...

Now thats funny. . . . Sad but funny. . .

It is a known fact that buying parts is much more expensive than buying the actual piece. Try buying a new automobile by parts alone. . . That 20K car will cost you half a million. . .

Could the other ID be comppaqq? Looks like the same kind of items.

Assuming that is an original SX-1980 Tuning Knob, who knows what someone who's SX-1980 is missing one will pay to get their unit up to snuff. The only other way to get that tuning knob is to get a parts SX-1980 which could cost MUCH more.
