The cover better than the original

[DKMI]

As far as I'm concerned, these Gus are the only version of this song.

[Subedei]

Might not make me popular but...

I also like Cash's version of I see a Darkness

[Axe Elf]

"Hurt" is already on the list for Johnny Cash, but this one is even better.

You should warn people ... some things cannot be unseen ... <G>

[floydologist]

I never liked the original of this song but the Foo Fighters rock it!!

Who better than Grand Funk Railroad to cover Little Eva's The Loco-motion?

Some outstanding covers in this ...

SuckerPunch - The Movie Soundtrack - Samples

Video Killed The Radio Star: The Buggles, originally done by Bruce Wooley; I have both on vinyl.
Win a bar bet. "Video Killed the Radio Star" was the inaugural video played on MTV.

I know I may take flack from this opinion, but IMHO this relatively obscure 60's band did a much better version of "I'm Not Like Everybody Else" by the Kinks.

[Wolverine]

Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah trumps Cohen's version IMO.

I know I am going to catch hell for this one, but so be it!

Wouldn't it take something fairly obscure to win a bar bet?

Everyone knows that.

It's not strictly a cover, but I am compelled to insert this here:

Yes, it's ethereal.

The shame is, almost every year without fail, there's a contestant or two on those talent shows who try to parrot Buckley's version.

If you could combine Cohen's vocal with Buckley's guitar it would be better than either one alone.

[Ethan25]

love how everyone is qualifying their response with "I know i'm gonna get in trouble for this but...."

Keaggy covering Baby Blue by Badfinger

[1tumbleweed]

I've never even heard the original, but I can't imagine anyone besting Annie Lennox' version of "No More I Love You's"...

Happy trails,
