The ** Dreaded** NFL Playoff Prediction Thread

Well, not dreaded (yet) but it did make you look.

Allright so the Patriots will win the Super Bowl. This happens to be more likely than the likelihood of any of the other 11 teams winning. Not each, any. They're that good.

Leaving to doubt only How they'll get there.

Herewith my humble observations of what shall come to pass. Disclaimer: don't bet on football. The odds are against you.

AFC first. 5 Jax at 4 Pit. One of the most interesting games of the wild card weekend. I see no reason Jax can't repeat its victory of a few weeks ago, albeit it won't be as convincing. I also want them to win. Unfortunately then they'd have to beat Indy which means we aren't going to see that Jax-NE AFC championship game. 6 Ten at 3 SD. Jeff Fisher will have the Titans ready to play. I pray he starts Vince Young, but fear he'll go with Kerry Collins. SD pulls away from a close game at the end.

5 Jax at 2 Indy: Already discussed. Excellent game but Indy wins with everyone healthy including Marvin Harrison. 3 SD at 1 NE: repeat of the blowout we saw in the beginning of the season. The wrong Philip Rivers shows up and it gets ugly fast.

2 Indy at 1 NE, the real Super Bowl if not the actual one. I hope to hell it snows and blows a gale. Otherwise Indy, as anyone else, must be ahead by more than 16 points with less than 6 minutes to go to win. Else the Pats tie with 2 TDs AND 2-2 point conversions and win in OT. More than a 16 point lead and even Belichick can't pull that horseshoe out of his ass.

The AFC championship game I want is Jax-NE in a storm. What a game that would be with the Jags D and running game. We can all dream.

NFC:

6 Wash at 3 Sea: Washington wins, continuing its hot play. They're playing as well as anyone right now. Other than NE. 5 NY at 4 TB: The Giants in a yawner. If they can muster the energy they showed against the Pats.

6 Wash at 1 Dallas. What a freaking game. Romo goes down again and we get to see Jessica cry. Boo Hoo, she's still rich. 5 NY at 2 GB: Cheesehead delight on the frozen tundra.

6 Wash at 2 GB: No pick yet. Regale me. Doesn't really matter as either goes down in Arizona.

Dallas VS New England. I know the Colts/Packers will have something to say, They were my pre-season picks, Not gonna change my mind at this point, And nothing has happened to make me go another way.

Geez...
How will this wind up???

Jax over Pitt
SD over Tenn

Wash over Sea
TB over NYG

NE over Jax
IND over SD

Wash over Dal
GB over TB

NE over Indy
GB over Wash

GB over NE, again............Well, I can dream right???

Right, what was I thinking, Jax would play NE not Indy, unless Ten beats SD which isn't unimaginable. Pardon me. I sit corrected. So go Bolts and Jags! Jax may well play the Pats, and I sure as hell hope they do, in a driving snowstorm. That could be very interesting. Could result in a lower point spread than Indy/NE in good weather...

Yeah, I think Jax and Wash are the two wildcards folks want to avoid, although the Giants really played a great game vs. NE.

The Cowboys and Steelers really seem to be losing their edge going into the playoffs. I do wish the Lions would have put up a better fight vs. the Pack Sunday though; what an embarrassment. At least most of the Packers bench got some playing time, which will help in the playoffs.

This week will be OK, but things will get real interesting in a week from Saturday!

Pack vs Colts - I think Cowboys are losing too much steem and I just have this feeling that Dallas Clark and Bob Sanders will have something to say to Brady and Co before it is all said and done

I certainly hope so. We've seen enough of the Patriots winning.

NE losing! Don't see it happening, And the sooner the Colts are gone, The better. The Patriots have a score to settle with them, And think they will get it done. Also, Writing off the Cowboys is a mistake.

There is nothing that I would like to see more than for the Cowboys and Pats to lose. The Cowboys more so, I canont stand Jerry Jones and TO.

Colts had NE at home and were missing more than a couple of starters not an excuse for giving up a ten point lead but they were 1 first down and a chippie field goal away from being the undefeated team this year. I like the fact everyone is giving the crown to NE it won't affect how NE plays but it will fire up their opponents. JAX should beat Pittsburgh and I would not be surprised if the just kept the ball on the ground and kept the Brady/Moss combo on the sideline to win an ugly 17-14 game or something low scoring.

If not and the Colts get back some people, don't loose anyone when they get their revenge game at home against SD and the weather is good when they play in NE I like their chances. That's alot of if's so we will just have to see how it plays out.

As for the NFC-who cares it is all minor league at this point with no teams in it that have a decent defense that will shut down any of the AFC teams except Tennesse and all of them have one-dimensional offenses.

I just hope JAX beats PIT tomorrow night, and SD beats TEN. We don't want the Titans going to NE, blowout city. If JAX goes, pray for awful weather. Then we see one hell of a football game.

16-0 doesn't mean a thing unless it leads to 19-0.

Don't really disagree with you, but everyone has thrown their best at the Pats all year to no avail. Remember how close the Pats came to winning the AFC championship to the Colts in Indy last year without Welker, Moss and Stallworth. But, all that said, the Super Bowl is probably the NE Indy game for the AFC championship.

1st step complete. Jax wins. Go SD! I do not want TEN to win that game.

If that happens (SD victory) the next prayer is to the weather gods.

For a major snowstorn next weekend in the Boston area.

Well being a Colts fan I am biased and want NE to play the tougher opponent next week, which IMO is JAX.

Purely from a fan's perspective if TENN wins then they go to NE which will be a one-sided all NE blowout. At least if SD wins you would have 2 good games; IND vs SD and NE vs JAX instead of just 1 good game in IND vs JAX.

As for the weather for the championship game (assuming it is in NE) I guess we can thank global warming that there is the possibility it could be sunny and 60 in January. Same goes with GB.......the frozen tundra of Lambeau field maybe a thing of the past...... :tears:

Agree with everything except I feel any team, including Colts, will fare better in any environment that can slow the Pats down. I don't think you can get into a shootout with them, unless you can be ahead by more than 16 with less than about 6 minutes left. I've yet to see that happen.

So what happens if JAX KO's NE?????

Actually, I hope the SuperBowl winds up being NE and GB with a GB victory and an MVP for Brett.Like I said, I can dream, right???

JAX beats NE and the Colts beat JAX for the 3rd time at home...
Then take their 2nd Super Bowl trophy..... I can dream too!!!!!

Yeah I don't see the Colts losing to the Jags.

So here's the revised, hoped for conclusion.

The Colts need to lose first. Better chance of SD beating them.

So, SD over TEN, Jax over NE, SD over the Colts and finally, Jax over SD for the AFC title.

Now we truly are in fantasy land.

I love the playoffs.
