The Knife Thread.....

This compact-sized number is a custom from Tom Lewis, it gets back into my EDC rotation from time to time. It`s like a very elegant steak knife, smallish-enough to carry regularly withellent fitout alarming the sheeple, but big enough to do most jobs. Steel is 154CM, handles are (I believe) birch and African blackwood inlay. Excellent fit & finish, the tapered tang and clisonne` handle pins show nice attention to detail.
(BTW, those are not stains on the blade, just reflections of the tree leaves overhead)

I have a few cool knives...I have owned this Collectible Colt Bowie for many years! It makes a nice photo companion for my 8" Colt Anaconda.

My favorite camp/survival knife is this Gerber Strongarm. I actually have 2 of them...FDE and black.

Nice gear !
Big snakes and big knives seem to go together well, here`s my 6-inch Anaconda, with it`s companion Cold Steel Trailmaster (Carbon V) Bowie

Nice, I used to have a drilled and tapped Anaconda with a hunting scope but I had to sell it years ago...I regretted it and bought this one. No D&T scope but still nice.
That Colt Bowie is very nice!
Thank you!

New knife! Vosteed just released this cute little Chipmunk and I had to have one. 2.64" ball bearing clip point blade and a G10 rounded handle. Ambi pocket clip and it can be opened one handed with the thumb studs or a front and back flipper. Blade is lined up right in the middle and lock up is solid. Nice little EDC.

Been some time since my last post at this thread, time to drop in.

PARSONS M7 KNUCKLE KNIFE circa 1967

- M7 bayonet blade fitted to custom-machined grip made by the Parsons Cutlery (Kentucky, USA)

- Machined-aluminum grip (lighter weight, better fighter) was deliberately subdued for field use.

- M7 bayonet blade is sharpened on both sides to make it a dagger.

- Blade was blackened before I acquired it, probably in 1967.

- Standard M7 bayonet hard sheath fitted with hooks to hang on standard web belt.

- I, like John Gibson and Mike Silvey, have seen the M7 bayonet blade model in natural (i.e., silver aluminum) and blackened (subdued), like this example. I, also like John and Mike, have never seen a genuine Parsons M7 Bayonet Knucked with a "marked" handle. Mike has confirmed this with maker Kevin Parsons.

This was one of my main carries as a Ranger and for 1st SFG assignments. It has traveled to Afghanistan, Angola, Eritrea, Grenada, Nicaragua, Panama, Somalia and Sudan. It does not have a passport.

Recently stopped into Monticello while on a rode trip with my wife. Of course I had my EDC in my pocket and without thinking I walked up to the entrance. There was a sign saying no weapons of any kind so I mentioned to the woman at the entrance I had to go back to my car to put my knife away. She said don’t bother, we have ” a knife hotel”. There on a table was a plexiglass box of individual slots where you would put your knife and remove the key. There had to be 20 other knives taking a nap in there. Some nice, some cheap ones but interesting to see how many people in a random sample actually carry knives.

I've given away a couple of knives when this whole no knife thing started after 9/11. Nice to see some places offer this service to folks who just forget they're carrying one which I have since grade school.

I've had a few similar events.
Went to the local AFB's yearly airshow and took my Swiss Army Knife with me. I couldn't take it into the static display but they let me drop it into a big cardboard box and retrieve it on the way out.
I also went to the St Louis Arch and found a no knives sign. I pulled out the same Swiss Army Knife and jokingly asked him if this was a knife. He told me no and let me take it in.
I worked for a place that didn't like the same Swiss Army Knife. Called it a weapon even though under state law it is not, yet if my boss issued me a lockblade they called it a tool and that was acceptable.:dunno:
The final one was at a local hospital where I was trying to get into ER! for a medical problem. I had to give them my name so they could file it away for me. At least I got it back there too.

@1MoreFord my friend was taken to the emergency room after a medical episode and they wouldn’t admit or treat him until he surrendered his Swiss Army Knife that he carried since he was a paper boy. They also would not return it to him after he was released. He is in tough financial straits, so I bought one and sent it to him. Not as nice as the one he had but he was glad to have one once again.
