The 'Lies Upon Lies' Game

SPAM was originally intended to grease the axles of heavy mobile artillery, and when it was discovered to be edible under dire circumstances, was dubbed Some Pickled Anonymous Meat, which of course the army felt they had to make into an acronym.

Spamish Harlem was a song title from 1960 with the lyrics:

Some meat was cooked in Spamish Harlem
A greasy slab in Spamish Harlem
It's sludge could block the sun
eat too much and you will get the runs....

The Spamish do not like electricity, they use horses with carriages, and they love making a bunch of babies.

When Polly gained some fame, she wanted the contest MCs to be a little classier, but thought a tuxedo was going too far, and a business suit didn't suit her monkey business, so she invented something more laid back.

Little-Known Fact:

Interestingly, “yacht” was originally a unit of seafaring distance—as in a “yachtical mile”. But sailors, being sailors, were known to the women on shore as “naughty boys”—which was shortened to “naughties” and, later, “naughts”. When the “naughts” were caught with married women by their husbands, they ran back to their ships to escape capture and possible death. This distance—what a typical drunken sailor caught with his pants down could run before passing out—became known as a “naughtical mile”.

"Yacht" was originally spelled "yaht," but Noah Webster changed it in his dictionary and then told his daughter so she could win a spelling bee.
