HW Record cabinet

Very cool find! Did you ever look at their current site? There's a record cabinet they make

We just scored a five foot long Heywood Wakefield Crescendo bookcase cabinet that probably goes back between 1938 to 1941, but fits in perfectly with our bursting out collection of HeyWake from the mid century era. High WAF!!:D

We have been ogling their site for six years, but have never pulled the trigger, DD. Some of their stuff is not quite original, some is more toward the arty side designs, and all of it is a good 30% more than the market supports. They came out during the height of the HeyWake rage, and their prices were top of the market then.

To whit, the Crescendo bookcase we just got is valued at $1800 to $2000 in the Rauland price bible, yet less than a decade after the collector boom, we would get less than half that here in St. Louis. Fortunately, the previous owner decided to dump this piece, and we scurried over to pick it up for $40.

The best part of this bookcase is I can move it north three feet, and it can complete the false wall I need for the one KHorn, all while still serving as a command bookcase. Sweet!
 
I'm going to have to use some Jedi mind tricks on you to learn your furniture-scoring tricks. :D
 
I have a set of six Moller #56 dining room chairs, 2 of which are captains chairs. They are quite wonderfully simple but elegant in design.
I need to order some paper chord so I can make an attempt to re-cane them:sigh:...but that's after all my speaker reapping into which I've delved.:yes::sigh::D

I picked up a sewing desk for $5 at an auction last weekend. It's a Sears/Kenmore desk and Japanese-made Kenmore sewing machine, I'll end up swapping my Singer Centennial into this cabinet. My bowling bag has a very mid-century vibe, too. :D

My HeyWake dealer (sounds rather pompous) said the company went bankrupt in the 60s or 70s. The name has been purchased and voila, the new Heywood Wakefield. Stuff looks decent.

He makes original pieces in HeyWake style- anything you want. If I had the bucks, I would hire him to make me a set of kitchen cabinets in that style.

He makes his own HeyWake record cabinets which improve slightly on the original design. His shop is something to behold. Loaded with restored pieces and he decorates with vintage radios and lamps.
 
Jack, is he the dealer that loves Klipsch speakers, as well? I was going to order one of his jewelry cabinets for Mother's Day for my wife, only to find out he stopped making them. Arrrrgh!:tears:
 
I'm using a couple of pieces of Paul McCobb to hold my home theater stuff. No pics on this computor but will try to add some later. Pioneer two channel is on built in shelving by George Nelson.

Our seven year old was listening to our conversation at dinner a few nights ago, and brought home his art assignment the next day. He was supposed to draw a picture about something we talked about, and was quite disappointed when his teacher scolded him for not doing as he was told with the painting.

She had to change her mind when I told her we were looking at fabric swatches, and that Liam obviously liked the Eames crosspatch patterns..

Here are a few shots of the nice stereo stand, although it currently is being used as a catchall plus the TV stand. Soon(hopefully) it will be moved, and arranged to better show off the outrigger legs and beveled top deck.

With the outriggers, its profile and turned legs strikes a chord similar to the JBL Paragon and the Altec Capistranos.
