well, got much moved into the house, so here are a few shots.

first two are shots in my office. third is just by the entry way.

Hating to see this thread slip away, here is a pic of a lamp I just nabbed at thrift. Nothing overly special, but unique for sure.

Set me back a whole $5, and about that much for a rewire kit. Now to hit Target for a shade.

I scored a new lamp yesterday too. No idea as to the age so maybe it doesn't fit here, but I like it.

I'm hoping to get a little more aesthetically pleasing (but still efficient) bulb in there soon.

I just now found this thread. You guys have some amazing things! I am totally jealous!

I really love MCM stuff as it reminds me of my childhood. My style runs from MCM to Tiki.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces I have to help the thread along.

First up my Heywood Wakefield day bed.

And here is my latest find. It's a 3 orb fiberglass and chunk plastic hanging lamp. I have it hardwired into a dimmer switch for that ideal "mood lighting"

Cool Manchu...sweet digs, bro! That's some fab mod greatness you have there. I'm kicking myself for not picking up one of the aluminum trees this past christmas when I was in Ohio, where they are cheaper than here in Chicago.
 
Love that daybed- must have. I have a nearly idential aluminum christmas tree with a brand new colorwheel.
 
Thanks for the props guys! I would love to find a color wheel. I need to keep an eye out. What do you think of the new ones? I would imagine they are better than the vintage ones that had a proclivity for the motor burning out.

I should note that the tree is my girlfriends tree from when she was a kid. Here mom bought it in 1956 for around 30 bucks and it caused a huge fight with her husband because it cost so much money!

I've got this 1925 hand formed Rolls Royce fender that i'm going to turn into a free standing metal sculpture!The pic doesn't do it justice.

The wife and I are looking for a new couch and love this period of furniture. Ours is worn and the cushions cannot be removed to be replaced. We thought it would be neat to find a mid century sofa.
We found this one that comes with three chairs for a very reasonable price, granted the cushions would have to be redone.

We do have some guests that come over and just plop their selves down on the furniture and was worried about it handling the abuse.
Thoughts?

That is a great looking set.

Just because the frame is on the outside, doesn’t mean its any more delicate then a sofa/chairs with a covered frame. In fact, I bet it may be of better quality wood/construction then average, since it is designed to be seen.

Check the joints between pieces. If all was good, I would go for it. Let us know!

And if the joints are loose but undamaged, buy them and re-glue. :thmbsp:
 
Anybody have a couch reupholstered? It was pretty pristine for its age (60's I think) when I found it, but 10 years of living with a cat has taken its toll. Are we in for major sticker shock?

The current fabric is a wool blend which is a magnet for stains and cat hair. With a new lil' stainmaker on the way I don't see that situation improving. Leather is not a good option. Any other suggestions for materials?
 
My mom's whole condo is in mid-century danish modern. I've always hated it, but someday, we're going to inherit it. I hope it retains its value, but she keeps it well. Here's the couch back in 2002.
