Anybody have a couch reupholstered? It was pretty pristine for its age (60's I think) when I found it, but 10 years of living with a cat has taken its toll. Are we in for major sticker shock?
The current fabric is a wool blend which is a magnet for stains and cat hair. With a new lil' stainmaker on the way I don't see that situation improving. Leather is not a good option. Any other suggestions for materials?
I had a mid century couch reupholstered about 7 years ago in California and it was about $500 for the foam and fabric, IIRC. I used some pretty expensive red crushed velvet (as I'm a pimp on the side), which added to the cost. I've been poking around now, in Chicago, and it seems I would have to pay more here but I'm really not sure. I just bought foam at Joanne Fabrics to do that part myself (it was 1/2 price last week), and am debating what to do about the fabric. I like the color but it is, like yours, a cat hair magnet. You can't sit on it without gettting coated in the hair...not fun.
