The Name That Album thread

Finally worked this one out. In the interest of sqeezing a bit more out of this one I'll give a couple of hints.

1) ST album released on both CD and vinyl.
2) Released in the last decade
3) I had to look at 948 album covers before I found it.

Edit: It wasn't the singer I was thinking about before. Sorry Martha Wainwright

:scratch2:...man, i'm glad you found it, I don't think i'll ever get it. Trying out "indie", but apparently theres "indie pop" and "indie rock", and apaprently, they are not at all alike:dunno:.

Self titled is the biggest clue, I suppose- then again, you'd be surprised at the number of self-titled albums....on with the search, I suppose.

Now I can only wonder what's next...sounds like you'll get to post one:thmbsp:
 
I've already posted one today so I thought I'd give you guys a few clues and a bit more time to find it. One more hint. The artist name has reference to why the guitarist is depicted this way.

I'll take some shots out of my collection and if no one has solved this in about an hour I'll claim it and post a new one.

Oh thank heavens!, I was driving myslef crazy over that one...have you seen the wikipedia page for indie rock bands?, it's insane.

Yours is interesting- looks a little beach boys like, especially that character on the right:scratch2:, don't know if its them though....

Alright, it's "The fabulous Beach boys", which is an australian-only pressing of "pet sounds" put out by the "music for pleasure" label. Really cool stuff. Oddest thing is, it seems to have a mixed-around track listing, from what I recall.

I'll have a new one up soon, jsut have to edit out the title:thmbsp:.

Well done. It's the reason why I've been looking for Pet Sounds down here for so long and never found one. It has the same track listing and order except two extra tracks on side one. "Don't Talk" and "Let's get away for awhile".

This pressing is just bearable though. It's all we had down here at the time and Pet Sounds has never been manufactured here. Crap label.

Have never seen a copy of Pet Sounds in Oz but there must be a few imports out there. I'll find one. I'm only 39!

Man, I can't fathom why there wasn't a offical pet sounds release- pretty weird.

Here's a new one, about an inch off the top, as all the text was up there. Sorry about the glare (it may be a clue;)). Again, any hints are freely given, or I can confirm guesses...this is a bit of a rarity, even the artist is...hope it isn't too hard.

Nice work. Sorry I wasn't around for any hints.

FWIW, Loose Fur was a side project of Wilco frontman, Jeff Tweedy.
And you guys were right, it was a CD cover. I debated on whether to crop out that woodgrain but figured it didn't really matter. ;)

I don't have time to dig into this new one, which I don't immediately know.

Could be, does have a well-placed piano, in fore-front. Trying to discern if the record label's logo is in the top-right, wouldn't help much though, as it's just a red circle (if it is the label). Looking at it more, it's very possible its classical:yes:...

The art direction reminds me of Norman Rockwell:scratch2:...

yeah, and the subject matter- nothing big or fancy, just a average slive-of-life kinda painting. The lines seem a little rougher than what I recall of rockwell, though...

interesting use of the mirror, I wish I knew if that was the artist, or I could recongize him...
