Oh, trust me, you DON'T want to imagine it. My 20-year-old self had no concept of living to 80, now that I'm at that point I still can't wrap my head around it.
I'm six months from 80, and can't complain too loudly. Fifty-six years married and we still are in love. We enjoy serving in our church, have escaped COVID and remain close to our children, grandchildren and great-grand-children despite them being scattered all over the country (hooray for the internet!) It isn't all good, I remember being much stronger and able than now, but there isn't much I want to do that can't be done. Floaters in eyes - got them. Aches and pains? Yep, have some of those too. General health? Not bad. Hearing aides, a bum shoulder, essential tremor, most likely will need cataract surgery at some point, pills to let me pee, the usual things that come with age. But I can't complain. Life is good. But it's still hard to think of being 80 and knowing the end is getting close.
Oops, I forgot this is the not so official piss, moan and bitch thread. Let me see. Hmm. Despite trying to being careful I destroyed another stylus moving a turntable. My right hearing aide keeps getting blocked with ear wax making my audio sound out of balance requiring either cleaning the aide or using balance control on the receiver and I still have two R2R's. a Fisher receiver, an old powered sub-woofer and two old radios to resurrect. Just as soon as I have surgery to take care of essential tremor - that should take place sometime this summer.
And one more, a legitimate gripe - Idiots who pass over double yellows on narrow two-lane roads. One nearly got me a week ago. What the heck is so important you need to risk your life and that of everyone else?
