I stopped at the local record store on the way home and bought these:

First, some ethnic music. I love Putsmayo!


A couple classical CDs and some jazz. I thought Wynton Marsalis was classical too, whoops. That one will be passed along.


Some old country. Chet Atkins was finger-pickin’ good. One was $4, the other was $1. Jim Reeves had that effortless baritone voice. $1. He was one of many stars who died in a plane crash in the 60s. The Country Roads boxed set is six records of classic country hits from the 50s-70s. $1.


The Detroit Cobras were a garage rock band, who were active from the mid-90s through 2021. The woman lead singer died this year. The guitarist was also a woman, who is continuing in her other band. The rest were session musicians, but they were all quite good. These I got from eBay from all over the world for between $5-10 ea.

This weekend I stumbled upon Megadeths death by design box set vinyl in a local FYE. $79. Apparently these sell for $200ish everywhere. I wanted the vinyl anyway, so imo I scored.

All for a whopping $28.81 after tax. I did donate 5 bucks to the women's shelter while there. So total of $33.81.

I do think I Have figured it out where the albums are coming from. I think a record store is donating to the shop. Granted nothing ever had store stickers on it but it makes sense. Maybe someone who works at the thrift knows someone who owns or works at a record store and they are using dead stock albums for a tax break? I don't know but it's probably the most viable theory I've got.

I went to our one and only record store. Upstairs the new stuff is on the pricey side and the used good stuff is expensive. I went downstairs to scrounge through the $2 selections. A lot of the more contemporary rock, I already have so instead got some oldies. Total $10. It's been raining for days so somehow it kinda feels right.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Ice Death Planets Lungs Mushrooms and Lava. Lava Edition

From when I ordered it to when it arrived. The Lava Edition sold out and according to Discogs, it more than tripled in price.

Minor score. Tears for Fears - The Tipping Point. 2022

Paid regular price for this "limited edition" at Target. When I checked Discogs, there are 1/2 dozen or so other "limited edition". Everyone does that these days, essentially just color variations. Certain colors are more sought out after. Not all that fond of baby blue records, but what the hey. The Target edition was the only one to include 2 extra songs on a 7", 33 rpm record. I'll take it as a score.

Music is pretty good and still growing on me.

They have slowly grown on me also. Although I haven't picked anything up they are on rotation at my buddies record shop so I hear them all the time.

I have three of their older albums. The last one was Elemental, which I liked a lot. It's been 15 years or something since their last regular release.

Got a bit of a score from the shop that cleaned my receiver and put a new cart on my TT.

The Hidden Hand - The Resurrection Of Whiskey Foote

Picked it up for 5 bucks album has never been played but the cover is VG+. Discogs says it's worth 30 median but the only one available for sale is 80. Guess that's a score but I'm not looking to resell so it will go in rotation.

I have not been to a Goodwill, looking for records, for months and months due to the poor selection at our local store. I have only found one or two records in the past that I would purchase and those were of questionable quality. I had a few minutes today between appointments, so I stopped by just to kill some time. As I walked in I looked toward the back of the store where the records usually are located and I noticed a very slim selection, two rather short stacks probably 50 or so. I decided to go and flip through them knowing what I would probably find. As you can see I was totally surprised by these 17 classic rock records, I quickly grabbed them and looked around to see if anyone was watching. Crazy how we react when we find something like this. All are in excellent condition and the covers are excellent as well. Nothing earth shattering here, but just nice to see something I was interested in at Goodwill for a change. I am guessing this might not ever happen again to me. They were all priced at $1.01 each and as I check out I find out it is Senior Citizen day and good for an additional 25% off. 17 records for $14 dollars. Just wanted to share my experience before I start cleaning and cataloging.

Pretty good haul from a thrift store in Woodhaven Queens today. Among other things two insanely clean Bing Crosby 10" LPs "Merry Christmas" and "St. Patrick's Day". Covers are without splits at all and super clean records. You just never see these looking this great! $2 each.
