The SL-110/Sl-1100 and SP owners club.

i bought my sl-1100 because I thought it would be the perfect platform to support a Gray 108B. When I got it I installed a Shure M7D in the stock tonearm and have really been enjoying it ever since. Its my number 2 deck behind the TD-124 and really holds its own. If I ever get another arm board i'm going to go ahead and install the Gray as I think it would be a very interesting combination.

I'm a recent purchaser of a SL-1100A. Picked it up about 5 weeks ago at a garage sale for very short change, as 68custom would phrase it. It came with a lackluster Stanton 500.v3, which I promptly replaced. I have three headshells for it, with a Stanton 681EE in one, a Shure V15 mk IV in one and a Grace F8-L in the last one. I have other carts, including an AT-ML170 that I may switch out with as the inclination arises.

Really impressive machine. Tank-like build quality, solid feel on all the controls. I like the option to use your own interconnects. The removable armboard absolutely begs for an aftermarket tonearm though.

EDIT: Forgot to ask if you'd please add me to the list :D

Here's one I used to own. Sold, but I kept the arm. Nice deck overall.

What fascinates me about yours is the red cap on the 33/45 slider. Did it come that way?

thanks.

welcome Sound Harvest! I also have that Kraftwerk album on vinyl!
BTW I recently added a very nice SL-1400 MK 2 to my TT stash, but no way it will ever replace my SL-1100a!

Hey there! I just posted a before and after off my polished platter. I am also converting my 1100 to a 110. using a rosewood tone arm board and I need the measuremants to make a rosewood skirt. TRying to find a proper sme arm for a cheap as I can get it.

start a new post and someone will be able to help you. what did you use to polish your platter? it looks great!
the cork mat looks great as well!

mine has the stock arm, some where I have a stock board that has been modified for the SME but it needs paint / powdercoated and I would need an SME arm, though if I were buying I would probably want a Rega RB-300? arm.

why the REGA?
I really like the one piece arm, though I must admit it makes cartridge changes a bitch! to be honest I am good with the stock arm a few mods and it can be pretty good.
new wire, heat shrink tubing, and I have even seen people that stuffed the arm with sponge material or something to increase the damping. all this assuming the arm is in good shape which mine is.

Here is what it cost me to get this turntable in proper working order
Turntable cost: 350.00 on eBay
strobe scope: ordered from a German dealer costing me 310.00 delivered.
cleaned, oiled, power cord replaced, tone arm adjusted: 275.00
two head shells. Technics and the ortofon w ortofon red cart: 170.00
custom dust cover: 140.00
platter buffed and polished: 50.00
tonearm dust bug: 35.00
cork mat 30.00(I think)
Bellari tube phono preamp: 250.00 used.
I'm still not done. Getting a custom tonearm board made from rose wood, and I'm crossed between the SME M2 tone arm or the infinity black widow. about a 150.00 difference between the two. Purchased in 2013. I'm 45 years old and this is my first table. I was looking to get a 1200 at first but when I was searching, the 1100 stood out. Didn't know anything about them but it was one of the best old school turntables I have ever seen. and considering what people were asking for them. I seen one for 1000.00. wow.
