The SL-110/Sl-1100 and SP owners club.

Thanks Sound Harvest, yes it appears we have the earliest version. I came across my 1100 about a year ago, one came up locally and it is totally stock and minty (including the dust cover). I also have a 1200, 1200MK2 (bought it new 30+ years ago), 1210MK2, and 1800.

Yes the biggest difference is
1 The headshells on the first version didn't have the 3 holes drilled into it as the later 1100A's and i also believe the 1100 and i could be wrong but I think those were the ones with the National Panasonic logo on them, vs the Technics logo on . I know those who were stationed over seas in the service in say 71 or 72 had the national Panasonic logo.

For those who was looking for a base for their TT. The good thing is, you can use any color and type of wood you want.

my SL-1100a had the head shell with out holes and my unit is a 1100a, FWIW. long gone now though, darnit!
 
Here are some pics. It is labeled "Technics by Panasonic" on the dust cover, base, and back. Mine came without a headshell, so I am using an SL1200 MK2 headshell with a Grado Blue cartridge (I have Grado on all my Technics tables).

Sure. As far as I'm concerned the SL1100 is the best sounding Technics deck without going into the SP series of tables. I've had plenty of SL1200 II and other Technics DD tables in house and the 1100 kicks them out the door.
 
I agree and remember the SL-1100 is/ was the premier "consumer" TT, with the SL-1200/1300/1400 etc being lesser siblings to the SL-1100.

Cool, as I said before I did have 4 of these, sold 3, one to targeteye a while back, which is the twin of this one. His a little better cosmetic condition but Identical otherwise.

There is something about it that seems very musical. I agree with this statement. I haven't compared it to my SL-1200 II directly but i does get used much more than the sl-1200 II so that must be saying something.

How does one amass 4 of these? not exactly a common TT. :)

Whatever you do, do not try to take off the knobs on the pitch controls to paint your turntable. The knobs will be stuck on, and you will end up breaking the shaft right out of the pitch control, and those pitch controls are no longer available.
