do you have any info on that cool mod? my strobe works good but is no where near as cool as that! does it run on batteries?

Technics SL-110 with a quartz referenced strobe far greater accuracy for checking speed. You see how with this circuit the dots on the platter edge are much clearer and sharper in shape than with a standard mains neon light.
The whole reason I built this circuit was that all non quartz lock direct drive decks I have owned appear to wander in speed according to the mains powered strobe lights.
What I wanted to know was, is the deck drifting in speed or is it as commonly said the mains frequency drifting.
Now having built this and used it for some time, I am happy to report that speed no longer drifts as it used appear to with the mains powered strobe.
So after all these years of wondering I am now happy that this direct drive deck has a good stable motor set up when playing records.
BTW I changed the LED to Blue

my Sl-1100 has a jumper between those ground lugs, one grounds the base and the other grounds the tone arm.

Well firstly you will have to build the quartz strobe circuit which I got from this site, once you have that running it then a matter of fitting it into the deck.

Also my deck has had mods to it, I junked the Technics power transformer and supply and fitted a toroidal transformer with a LM317 Chinese built off ebay regulated power supply set to 21v, I then ran a LM7809v regulator off the DC supply going to the main regulator so I could power up the strobe circuit. there was quite a lot of rewiring to do all this it took me some time as I am getting on now.
I only suggest doing this sort of work if you are confident about doing it.

when compared to the SL-12xx and higher (up to SL-19xx) very few people have the SL-1100a. we are a rare bunch!
glad to see some activity here!
there are over 100 pages at the SL-1200 owners club.
