Do you still have the QLS's?A little late to the party here, but have enjoyed all the great info and commentary.
My intro to Threshold happened about eight years ago when I took an Aragon 8008 to my tech, Jon (AKer FootFungus) to have him look into a faint “buzz” coming from the chassis. The Aragon was an attempt to improve upon the best sounding powerhouse amp I had at the time, a Soundcraftsmen MA5002 (also had an Emotiva XPA-2 and Hafler 500). I was very impressed with the improvements I heard when moving to the Aragon from the Soundcraftsmen with my notoriously-difficult-to-drive Infinity QLS-1’s. I was already smitten with the Soundcraftsmen/QLS-1 pairing, and hearing further improvements with the Aragon opened my eyes to the capabilities of a more contemporary and deliberately hifi amplifier. Looking at the impressive inventory of big, modern amps (Krell, GAS, Levinson, Threshold, etc.) Jon had sitting around, I asked him if there was anything in his inventory that would be for sale around the same price point as the Aragon and that might be something worth trying out. He suggested a Threshold s/300 (freshly recapped and slightly modified) and let me take it home for an audition. It was love at first sight with that beautifully sculpted faceplate and all business heat-sinks, and if I’d had the cash on me I would’ve just given him payment for it right then and there. The audition didn’t disappoint. As a matter of fact, it was a revelation. Not to take anything away from the Aragon because it really did sound very, very good with the big Infinities. But the fact that the s/300 could improve upon the Aragon’s performance, and without having to spend significantly more money, pretty much instantly made me a Threshold fan boy. The more I learned about Threshold and the genius behind the designs, the greater my respect grew for the brand and N. Pass.
I think one of the most telling moments I had with the s/300 happened after I’d purchased a second s/300 so I could biamp the big Infinities. Imagine my surprise, and perhaps disappointment, when I heard virtually no change
between single and biamp configuration...a testament to the prowess and control the amp has over a very difficult load. The s/300 has kept me perfectly satisfied with a variety of speakers ever since and I have no need or desire to replace it.

A few years after I got the Threshold(s), I came across an opportunity to try a First Watt F5 clone. At the time I’d been head over heels in love with my Altec 19’s powered by both a Tube Audio Designs TAD-60 biased to class A triode and also a pair of modified Golden Tube Audio 300B SET monoblocks. Once again, a Pass design came along and improved upon greatness and with outstanding bang for the buck. Still have that one, too and am now giving the amp camp monoblocks serious consideration after recently experiencing a pair .
I drive mine with Threshold on the Watkins woofers (SA/1) and a CJ Premier One b on the mid/high section.
