the Threshold owners thread

My options now are track down an m1 module, or try something like the SL preamp.
No but many here has used step up transformers into an MM input with excellent results. Lots of SUTs out there, just get one that will work with your choice of LOMC. Some SUT have a choice of windings allowing a wider range of cartridges to be used.

Has anyone ever used 2 Threshold 4000's strapped as mono block units? If so how was it?
Not 4000's but S/500's like a pair of SA/1 so in massive parallel mode not bridged.
Worked fine but ask at DIYaudio PassLabs forum how to accomplish that.

That is the SA/1?
Abover is the Nakamichi PA7 amp and above that one of my strapped S/500's which becomes a SA/1 when doing it in massive parallel mode and a S/1000 when doing it in bridged mode.
I have these SA/1's now with the meters:

Hey guys, I've searched and cant find a Threshold owners thread so I figured I'd start one.

I first became aware of Threshold at a young age, in fact , Threshold was my first introduction to the audiophile hobby. I had the proverbial cool uncle who moved back to New Orleans after living in New York City, he bought with him his pride and joy, a Threshold / Infinity kappa 9 system. He was quite proud of that system, and rightfully so , it sounded awesome!

I learned so much about music, the audiophile hobby and life in general around that system, it really brings back great memories. I lusted after Threshold gear ever since, a couple of years ago I realized the dream and put together my very own Threshold system.

it consist of
Threshold fet 10/hl preamp
Threshold fet 10/pc phono preamp
Threshold s/300 amp

So what is your experience with Threshold? How were you introduced to the brand? Any stories, info or thoughts you care to share?
got pics?

I used to have a pair of S500s. were used in a vertical biamp system.

All of these amps are at a point where a cleaning and recap is likely needed.

The Mallory powersupplycaps, now the CD CGS series, stay pretty good as I experienced with capacity and ESR meter and NP did confirm that too.

Hey All, I’ve been rocking an SA3 fed by the NS 10 preamp for a couple years and loving it. They’re pushing either JBL4315’s, or a pair of Altec 605a’s. My only complaint is that the preamp only allows for mm carts on the phono stage. My options now are track down an m1 module, or try something like the SL preamp. Any of you guys have experience/advice on those two preamps?
Did you ever find the M 1 module at a fair price? I'm looking for one too.

really depends on the model. Some of the Thresholds that ran pure class A cooked the caps. Pretty common to hear 120 hrz ground hum on some of those amps.

Same is true with the latter Aleph amps. They ran really toasty.

I just scored the first Threshold preamp the NS10 and its accessory module the M1 MC preamp in their original cartons from the first owner:

Here is my minty Threshold FET9, purchased from the original owner along with box and papers. Big fan of the phono stage so I am on the lookout for a FET10/PC to make a neat stack as I have two turntables and need a second phono stage. Alternatives I'm considering include the EAR834P and the Mark Levinson ML25c.

Here is my Stasis 2 . A total rebuild and with the new upgraded boards designed by NP .
By far the best amp of many I’ve owned .
The rebuild wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support from some very knowledgeable and generous people.
I took a big risk in buying it as none working, the original boards were burnt beyond repair, 12 fake transistors ( there are 48 ! in total) and many other issues, now just about every component bar the transformer has been replaced.
It was very stressful at times, was it worth it ?
Hell yeah .
