Thinking about buying Sony

Found a Sony 7045 on CL for $20. I replaced the stereo indicator and the rest of the lamps. It's just about to make the rotation. Today I sold my Sherwood, so I need a new machine in the mix.
Would it be wise to put my
JBL L19's in the main
DLK 1 1/2's in (What they call "remote")

Just a thought.

Really without breaking the bank at all, I got a nice condition (minus the driver's license number on the front) V4 for $20, and absolutely PERFECT V3 for free! All lights intact, no scratches, no dents, all of the controls were quiet except for the volume even. The V4 that I had was 55 watts/channel.

don't think about sony.go with pioneer instead, you'll thank yourself. better cosmetics and design. if it's got to be 1970s vintage, shoot for a 1978 SX-1980. otherwise, go with a 1990 VSX-D1S.

A falser statement could never be spoken. I figured after all the bashing you took for touting your VSX-D1D, you'd have a little more respect. :nono:

I have a Sony 6050. I love it. It has a very warm and sweet sound. Unfortunately the FM stereo stopped working and it all came down to one unobtaineum part. I have been looking for a parts unit but every time one comes up on ebay, it has the same problem. After looking at several nudes of Sony's from the early seventies, it appears they all used this type of part on the FM circuit. It is not an IC because it is not active. But according to the schematic it appears to have at least one electrolytic potted within the box. and some coils. Totally unfixable.

Long story short. Beware of early Sonys. mine still works well in every other way, But I suspect that all of these early tuners are time bombs, (for FM stereo.) Tuner works very well otherwise.
