Anybody having a hard time finding the headshell metric screws for the Thorens TD-160 turntable? My local Ace hardware only has M3 and larger sizes.

The cartridge usually comes with screws. Some cartridges need screws that go into the cartridge body and some go to the side of the head shell. I assume you want the side screws. I have the same turntable but with an SME tonearm. I would call "Needle Doctor." They're very friendly and can point you in the right direction if they don't carry the screws.

If you don't mind spending a little extra, these "Soundsmith EZ-Mount" are the best thing I've used, especially if you need to add a little extra mass to your tonearm.

McMaster-Carr. Comes in bags of 100. The brass ones are easy to cut down to length, and you'll never want for screws again.

Just to supply some encouragement for you, darth, I've done the very modification that moinau describes (et très effectivement, je dois dire . . .) and it is very simple to carry out.

Excellent, French speaking people from New Hampshire, and from Vermont, and a few other places on the eastern seaboard. :thmbsp:

Salut de la Nouvelle-Écosse.

I thought about the mod too, but I like to keep it original. The screws are not expensive...
