thoughts on a NAD 3020

Was sort of the Dyanco ST-70 for its day.

Cheap, no-nonsense, decent sounding.

I had one when they first came out. They had really good phono pre-amps in them. :yes:

The 3020 is a bit of a legendary piece. It's rated at a modest 20 watts per channel, but don't let that fool you. Great preamp section, especially the phono stage. The power amp stage effortlessly drives loudspeakers that would cause a new "100wpc" bargain receiver to shut down or fail. The 3020 is stable as a rock all the way down to 2 ohms.

You can do far worse than a 3020, just add a source and speakers and enjoy. I had the receiver version (7020) briefly...superb-sounding piece. The 3020 is one of the all-time great entry-level hi-fi integrateds.

I have the 3020B (no tone controls at all - straight in, straight out), I bought it
new in the early 80's - it's been a great amp for me but sadly it is in need of a new
power switch which I haven't gotten around to replacing yet...

I Concur. In 1982 I had one for a few months driving my Linn Isobariks ( which were devilish to drive ) untill I bought a proper Kenwood KA 907.
This was in a very small room - about 10 m2 - but it really did a fantastic job.

I have the 3140 as a reserve. Used in the garage for a while, but used to be in main system.
Always impressed with it.
The 3020 is supposed to be better sounding although never heard it.

I have one too, mine is the variant with the "mute" button. Nice little amp, been using it in my bedroom for about five years. My only complaint with it is the square plastic button covers keep flying off...

Mine did too. Simply cut a small strip of masking (painters) tape and wrap that on the plastic shaft of the switch. It will firm the button up and keep it from flying off when you change functions. :yes:

For what it costs - an Audio Legend Masterpiece.

cool,thanks for all the inputs on it,i got it cheap and will say it sounds better then i thought it would,was amazed how good it sounded
