HARALD GROSSKOPF "SYNTHESIST"1981
Bureau B 158 2014 reissue

Grosskopf came up through the ranks playing drums for Wallenstein, You, Cosmic Jokers and Ash Ra Temple, and saw what Klaus Schulze, Manuel Göttsching and Edgar Froese were doing and decided to switch to the synthesizer. This first solo outting is very inspired by those influences and a real fun listen. Lots of left right channel panning with layerings of synth and electronic drum sounds. Vocals are slowed to an other worldly narration.

Bumped into this artist just recently, and she seems to know right where to go on the tools. Not just turning knobs and guessing what will happen. Thanks to Noisfreq I have become aware of the Buchla and love the abilities of this synth. Modular as well seems to be a less expensive way to build and add in time. Still love the old all in one synths, but patching and sequencing is seductive. I love the way this artist uses effects on her voice. A little rough and new, but you can see the potential for the future.

VERY nice! How effortlessly she preforms. I wonder how much time she has in creating this particular song, singing and twiddling knobs simultaneously ain't easy. Kinda pulls back the curtain on electronic music doesn't it.
I need to forward this to my daughter, she'll love it.

Darkside - Spiral

Picked this one up a few weeks ago just getting around to listening to it. It’s recorded really well.

Darkside were great, they shone brightly and burned out way too fast.

Now playing

KLAUS SCHULZE "PICTURE MUSIC"LP1973

5th album by Schulze that is more minimal than earlier releases, side stepping the symphonic sound sources and huge synth sweeps but concentrating on VCS 3, ARP 2600 and Farfisa Organ. Side two picks things up with the introduction of live drums that elevate this to it's logical conclusion. You know, Klaus played drums for early Tangerine Dream, right?
