PATRICK COWLEY "MEGATRON MAN"
LP1981 MEGATONE M 1002
Real excited to find this! Think of Patrick Cowley as 'the american Giorgio Moroder'. Mutant underground 80s electronic disco... He died way too early, during the first wave of the AIDS epidemic. His music reminds me of Moroder's style but his life story reminds me of Arthur Russell's; small town kid goes to the big city and creates incredible music that isn't appreciated until 40 years later.

Every time I listen to Wendy Carlos’ Switched-On-Bach, and it’s been many times, as you listen closely and carefully you can pick out a new layer of sound almost every time. Then I found out she used up to 68 separate tracks that have been blended together carefully in some of the pieces. So painstaking and yet so wonderful. And it’s been around for 56 years!
