Last time I saw this it was way over $20. Please tell me you got it for way way way less.

Yes, way way less. How about 6 bucks? Old time pricing at this one store I frequent.

[DC]

Anyone heard of this guy? He came up on a social media feed, apparently he’s got several albums out, including a new release (not this one) so far only available on CD/LP. This was the latest I could find on Tidal.

Some comments hailed him as the next Jacques Loussier, (very) high praise.

I may order the new album and give it a spin.

Max Roach

Booker Little, trumpet; Julian Priester, trombone; Eric Dolphy, flute, alto sax, bass clarinet; Clifford Jordan, tenor sax; Mal Waldron, piano; Art Davis, bass; Max Roach, drums.

NYC, August 8, 1961

Max Roach put together some amazing bands during this time. The recordings of +4 with Sonny Rollins and Kenny Dorham... ARE ABSOLUTE PURE GOLD.

[fd1]

• Perry Bradford* – Piano
• Johnny Dunn – Cornet
• Dope Andrews – Trombone
• Ernest Elliott – Clarinet
• Leroy Parker – Violin

* Willie "The Lion" Smith almost certainly played piano on "Crazy Blues." However, because of conflicting historical accounts and the primitive acoustic recording technology of 1920, his contribution remains a subject of fascinating jazz debate.

Benny Goodman was one of the gateway artists who got me hooked on jazz. I did get to see the original quartet perform before Krupa passed away. That night was magic. Still, I own far more BG albums than should be legal.
