As of a couple of weeks ago I had 4 new tires put on my 2003 Highlander, I noticed today that all 4 were set at 35psi while Toyota suggests 30psi per side door jam sticker

Should I be concerned? which is better for fuel economy?
According to AAA, it's better to slightly over-inflate them by 3-5 PSI during winter, to offset pressure decreases in colder temperatures.
AI states it is generally safer to slightly overinflate tires rather than underinflate them, as underinflation causes excessive heat buildup and severe, immediate risks like blowouts.

I personally go by the recommended tire pressure as stated on the tire sidewall, then add between 3-5 psi more.
Don't tire sidewalls only print the MAX tire pressure? If that's what you mean, and you are going higher, that's too high. Tire pressure recommendations are different depending on the vehicle. That's why you should always use the vehicle's recommended pressure.

True. Ultimately one should go by the recommendation noted in their vehicle manual.
 
Depending on payload and what I am doing out of the ordinary, I am going with about 10% below the MAX printed on the sidewall for daily driving my unladen truck, and ignoring the PSI on the vehicle label.
 
I go by whatever makes them wear the most evenly across the entire tire, without wearing out the center or the edges, one faster than the other.

In my car, that's about 36psi (the tire max is 43).

In my truck, that's about 38psi (the tire max is 45).

I'd leave them at 35. Usually it's 32. Side effects, though. Currently have a 95 Corollas tires at 40 to save gas. Bounces a lot. Saves gas.

Do you really have evidence that it gets better mpg? I've heard that's mostly a myth, and any difference is pretty negligible. I don't think it's worth the safety/handling issues. Also, any gains you make, you likely lose with extra tire wear.
 
Yep, I notice it. Evidence? Would have to do a web search. Tire wear? I use ten buck salvage yard tires and drive in town. Handling issues? Definitely. On other vehicles here, they're kept at about thirty two.
 
I overspent on some reconditioned Land Cruiser OEM alloys, my original LX rims had seen better days after 30 years. These are very sparkly.

I bought a tired, softly sprung mall cruiser 15 years ago and replaced, along with many other parts, all suspension and steering hardware. Among other things to get to remote unpaved fishing spots and camp grounds.

I warranted “this setup”.

We have only owned 1 .... we purchased it used with super low miles....'05 Camry
Had a V6 .... peppy little thing.

Unfortunately for us it was not the usual Toyota reliability experience....

But boy did it sell fast even with the history known....
Was sold within the first hour of the car being posted.

I would have no issue getting back into a Toyota product again though......any manufacturer can have a lemon.

My truck averages about another half MPG with 38PSI, as opposed to 30-32PSI (stock rating). That's from driving it about a month with stock pressure when I first got it, and then comparing with 38PSI for about another month. Same drives to-and-from work- my commute pretty much avoids rush hours, so it's pretty consistent time and speeds.

And it corners better too. Less tire roll-over. That's a factor, with 70-series tires with tall sidewalls.

Disconnected the power steering belt and now have more power. Supposed to improved gas mileage, as well. Not currently driving in the city, though.
