Only if not cared for and abused, same can be said for any other seat material. The Avalon I bought new in 2008 was equipped with leather seats. I gave it to my son and they still look good going on 10 years, which was when he gave it to his little brother. The Tundra's leather upholstery still looks like new after 7 years of my abuse. I'll let you know how they look after 15.

Thanks for the info. At the end of the day, I don't like sliding in a seat, I don't like the sounds leather makes, and I don't like to sit to a hot or cold seat. Even if it has a warmer it will be cold for the first half a minute, and I don't like remote start and hate when cars idle for no reason.

I liked the GM 'pillow' interiors. They were very comfortable.

I agree, my 78 Buick Riviera had a really nice cloth pillow top interior

UPDATE: The seat covers arrived, and I am returning them... the straps and buckles used to secure the covers don't work with my seats and the sheepskin is so thick that it gets caught on the center seat causing the seat cover to be pulled off whenever the seat angles are adjusted. I am disappointed.

You need to explain why it's hard on engines, battery and charging system otherwise it's just an opinion. Where's the thread start stop killed my starter? There isn't one because the starters are heavier duty and made for purpose. The only thing I usually have to wait in is the pharmacy drive through. Takes just as long wether inside or drive through. Again just another of your opinions that others are free to do what they want not what you want.

Starting the engine is hard enough it takes a few seconds or even a minute to get oil pressure up to where every thing is properly lubricated plus during the shut down there will be some residual gas not burned because the spark is turned off in the cylinders which can eventually run thru the rings and get into the oil . The biggest draw on a car electrical system is when starting the motor that’s why the cable going to the starter is usually as big as the battery cables plus it puts the most strain on the Battery pulling the charge out and the alternator replacing the charge ! The more a starter is used the sooner it will ware out . Having grown up working on cars a lot of repairs were battery’s alternators and starters , now instead of a car starting twice on an outing depending on traffic it may start and stop 4 or 5 times more than it would without start stop ! Now even if you had a back up electric oil pump to maintain oil pressure which none that I know of do you still would have the xtra stress and ware on the cars electrical system , this is why in I don’t like start stop and a lot of mechanics will agree with me

And even with a heavier starter which cost more , it still will ware out the more it’s used and so will the battery it’s not cost effective in in my view that’s why I turn mine off but to each his own ! I also avoid long periods of idle and I have no problem with pharmacy drive thru , I don’t want to go in to a place where others who may be sick are picking up medicine , I was talking about young heathy people sitting in a fast food drive thru line

Toyota does make the worlds best hybrid vehicles, and I am happy that they pretty much avoided jumping on the plug in battery vehicle fad. Things I don't like about Toyota hybrids are push button start, start-stop, CVT and they don't offer a pickup truck... maybe someday in the distant future, but not now.

Theoretically, an EV makes much better sense all of the time from a mechanical reliability standpoint. But I still wouldn't have one, yet.

Since this is a Toyota thread, my opinion for the last couple of years regarding a possible new purchase has been unchanged: Toyota RAV4 Hybrid AWD. Regular hybrid, not plug-in, as it is more hassle. I consider this is the optimal vehicle by size, external style, power, fuel economy, cabin space and trunk capacity. I also appreciate that the dashboard is not made of two tablets bolted together, although my 2017 GTi still looks the best inside.

EV? Maybe in ten years. I want to see better infrastructure, faster charging time and battery recycling.

Give me a standard transmission or a proven 6 speed automatic and I am happy.

The start stop 'feature' started after Toyotas hybrids which do not use a starter and 12v battery but instead uses the electric motor and hybrid battery to start the car. It is very smooth, quite and seamless unlike the stop and start feature in ICE only vehicles. The hybrid system also doesnt have a delay because it will use the hybrid system to start propelling instantaneously then integrate the ICE once you are already moving.

I trust the hybrid synergy transmission more than a conventional transmission. Its as tight as it was 17 years ago, unlike the slop I am starting to feel in my 2008 Sienna transmission. And the Siennas transmission is still tighter than most 15 year old cars.

Yes, but I've never been a fan of the Tacoma.

I am waiting to see what they do with the rebirth of the STOUT, and to be honest I am hoping that a rather simple normally aspirated gas motor is an option.
