TPA 3116 vs the tripaths

so, is this GREEN Audiobah board, definitely the best?

I can not say with 100% for all, but will confirm from my point of view and in comparison with the two others I have, that is the board that actually does not need any modification, that has no issue with ON/OFF 'pops&cracks' like others have, with all the good quality parts and as such produces fantastic sound - then yes, definitely the best.
 
Maybe narrow dip around 10khz esl57 is a problem, not certain, the small amp tpa3110 has a datasheet minimum impedance <15V like 3116 of 3.2ohm and driving a speaker with a far wider dip of 2.8/2.9ohm is no problem. PBTL3116 has minimum impedance 1.6 ohm, there impedance certainly should not be problem. esl63 shouldn't be impedanceproblem for any.

Who cares, none of these Chinese sellers accurately describe their boards. Common sense dictates they are all pretty much the same though.

Actually a little over 50% of the YJredboardsellers on ebay.com worldwide do not give a wrong description as far as I can tell. And guess what? They sell far less of these ampboards then the sellers that tell you there will be 10.000uF nichicons and fullwave bridge rectifiers on the amp you can buy from them .... So it works, lying gets rewarded on Ebay and the lucky buyer rewards this with positive feedback, even more, recommend these lying sellers on fora, without mentioning the offer is not what buyer is going to receive! Amazing! It must be common sense I miss :D
 
YJ redboards recently had 22uH 680nF filter = 8ohm filter (older production YJredboard (1year ago) had 22uH 560nF filter = 9ohm filter)

My red board which was sent by Yuan Jing directly a few weeks ago has 560nF printed on the components and 680nf on the board. Is it possible that you have it the wrong way around? I can imagine that a spec change is adapted on the parts earlier than on the board print.

Anyway, I have no complaints about the sound. I am using it with full range speakers (Tabaq using Tangband W3-871's) which are >8Ohm across the range and have a BSC filter (just a resistor and an inductor).

Now YJ may have changed back to 560 again or you received a board from earlier productionrun. They are sold by 1000's and 10.000's on some chinese websites. Older boards most likely recognizable by other higher quality parts, newer YJ boards tend to get worse parts.

The funny thing about the TPA is so many people get caught up with insignificant details on what matters. I could understand if some of the red boards were being shipped with defective or mislabled parts, that's a different story, but from I've read that isn't the case.

The difference in cap values mentioned isn't going to make a hill of beans difference on what the board sounds like. The output filters on these cards aren't filtering audio in a traditional sense like a speaker crossover, they are for power efficiency at the switching frequency. Anyone new to TPA just buy what looks like a decent deal from a seller with good rating, listen to it, you be the judge. This is not rocket science, but the diyaudio crowd likes to make it so.

I am looking to build a home 2.1 speaker system.
Could you please help in selecting a good audio amplifier IC for this.

To compare different amplifier ICs, looked at their datasheets. But there was not much difference in the graphs of "THD+noise vs output power" , "THD vs frequency" for ICs: TA2020, TK2050, TPA3116, LM1875, TDA7265. For all of these the THD was at least below 0.1% across the output power values under the given max for the chip. Among these graphs TK2050 was looking very slightly better than others (near 0.01 %).

Can we use above observation in selecting the IC? But it shows all were more or less similar.
Could you please share your experiences with these ICs?

Hi S, in one of the first posts in this thread the OP compared a TPA3116 to a few T-amps. I can only compare my TPA3116 (red board) to an SMSL ta2020 based T-amp and I prefer the TPA in my living room.
 
That Sure board looks clean, if I needed another TPA I might get one. I like the fact that Sure takes the time to put together a manual for their amp product line. But... looks like that board has 100 uH inductors on it just most of the others, not sure what the hockey puck does or why it's needed, but it looks cool.

For my money the red board with a volume pot is still the best deal :D
