Okay, got a chance to buy either Sansui SP-3500 or Pioneer CS-63DX or Pioneer CS-99A speakers. Classic Rock is my poison so lets here some opinions please.

None of the above, get a classic Advent, JBL, Boston Acoustics, AR, even a Cerwin Vega or Realistic Mach One would be better than any of your current choices.

Did the OP not say "Got a chance to buy" Xxxx, Yyyy or Zzzz speakers?
How about answering his question with an answer to the question?

It's like sitting in a room with a bunch of Minnesotans :-)...

"My mother said I could have a brownie or some cookies, or a freeze pop"
"Go for the ice cream, it's better than the other three"

I'm with the majority on this one. Don't buy any of them just because they're available. Save the money you would've wasted on any of them and put it towards something you can enjoy for years to come.

Dang, I own the SP-3500, a pair of 99 (not 99a) and know of a friend with a pair of 63DX speakers. I've repaired the foam on the tweeters and will be ordering caps for the networks on the 99's. I'll have to see how my buddy feels about bring the 63DX speakers by. Only problem is, not sure I can give you feedback in time.

They did give him an answer: None.
Why buy the best of the worst when better can be had? Sometimes no buy is the best buy.

Good point.
I think he should go for the Toyota.

But in all seriousness, I've only heard one of the three, the Pioneer CS-63DX, and they weren't garbage, if they're cheap I'd get them, I mean, they're not totl or anything, but they weren't bad sounding at all, bit boomy with the bass I found, but wasn't overpowering or anything.

Then again, There is nary a speaker I wouldn't buy if the price is right!

Gee, a few honest answers. So here's another.
IMO all of them are nothing but a lateral or downward move from what you already have. I'd probably go for the CS99's because the lattice work grill is "cool".

IMO: For rock, your CLS-15's are better for rock than all your other speakers. They're also much better than those you're thinking of buying.

Thank you all for the ones that really gave an opinion of what I was asking, which is WHAT I was asking!! YOUR opinion. I was not asking for you to buy me a set od speakers. I guess the way I should ave posed the question was, "for those of you who have owned the following speakers, please tell me which ones you liked best" I'll do better next time at being mo specific on the question,,,,
my fault!! ANYWAY I'm hoping I end up with a pair of Yamaha NS-1000's
those of you that have experience with these, PLEASE tell me what you think.

I owned 2 pair of those speakers you asked about and the cs51's as opposed to the 63's. I couldn't live with any of them. They basically all sound the same which is to say they're downright unpleasant to listen to.

You've no doubt made the right decision to steer away from them and go for the NS-1000's. I don't have any experience with the 1000's but I've heard their siblings the 690's and was quite impressed. Good luck to you in getting those excellent speakers.

Thank you motorstereo. One more now, Pioneer S710's, cant find anything out on Audiokarma. Look like HPM 100's?

Saw a pair listed on the bay. Hmmmm. Look like a cross between a HPM and Yamaha NS series. I like my HPM-100 speakers. Re-capped, cleaned pots and replaced one bad tweeter. Nothing I can't live with.

If the cs99's have the same tweeter as the cs33's, they will be very lacking! I bought a pair of 33's for $12, because the cabinets had a real cool retro look. I changed the tweets for some infinity emits that I had hanging around and they sound better now.

I'm quite aware of the Sansui product, but haven't owned them (by personal choice). I've had various CS speakers from Pioneer in my past. I always felt them to be an okay speaker. Not terrible. But, never great. One or two might reach high, and get to good.

They are all lesser than your current setup and not anything like either the Pioneer HPM series, Yamaha NS-1000s, or a/d/s/ L1290s you've asked about.

Forget the S710's also. Go for the Yammies. They may be a bit bright to you. If they are you can tape a piece of tissue paper over the tweeters. It's a rather common fix.
