Turntables in the movies

Thank you all for reading it. It’s one of the few things in life that I’m proud of. I wanted to just say “I saw technics 1200 mk2s in the movie juice and in the new series Wu Tang An American Saga” which is a new Hulu series. but that movie and those turntables really changed my life. It’s funny because I bought so many 1200s over the years that my wife is literally tripping over them. Lol but each one of them hold a lot of memories of when my health and quality of life was better. And the coolest thing to take away from my story is my very first pair of 1200 mk2s still function like new. I put heavy use on all my decks and in 30 years I only had to replace one tonearm. Any new Vinyl DJs out there these will run forever if you take care of them.

In season 3, episode 1 of the very popular Swedish TV-series "Vår tid är nu" (translates to "Our time is now") there´s a nice little scene for us vinyl nerds.
The series revolves around a restaurant business Stockholm in the years from 1945 - 1970's. In this episode which takes place in 1968 the restaurant is being converted into a night club inspired by what´s happening in London in the sixties. In this particular scene the hired DJ is introduced to the turntable rig the club owner has invested in. It opens with a nice panoramic shop over a setup of two Lenco L75's and a turn-knob audo mixer.

The club owner proudly claims that it´s the best gear available in Sweden right now (1968). But the "very cool looking" DJ snorts back that it´s pretty good but nothing compared to the brand new Pioneer PL-41:s he played on in Anabel's in London .
I think it was a nice little touch of the producer to allow a little bit o hifi tech-talk into the episode. And I believe they did their research too. Being a Lenco owner myself I´m not quite sure that the DJ character was right, though ;-)

I seem to recall a really slick looking table in Robert Redford's character's mansion in "Indecent Proposal". I've always wondered what it was, but not enough to rent the movie and watch it again...anybody remember what it was? Looked really exotic...VPI, Forsell?

Just watched Tarantinos latest, Once upon a time Hollywood (really liked the movie!).
Here the main character's neighbors, the Roman Polanski household, plays music on a Dual. Most likely a 1019.

A big influence on me getting back into vinyl was the scene in `Oblivion` with Tom Cruise. The scene is pretty awesome and u underscores a lot of feelings about vinyl. He thumbs through some record and I still had almost all of them.

I've noticed a lot of McIntosh, gear in films. The departed, Matt Damon's apartment scenes come to mind. I believe I saw a episode of the tonight show and Jimmy Fallon has a McIntosh turntable in his personal listening room.

Sweet. Sweet system. Just started watching this series. He also knows his jazz.
Mcintosh 240 tube amp, Marantz 6300 turntable, Ohm speakers, and what appears to a nice vintage preamp, maybe Marantz.

Someone had noticed that on the show there are no wires going to the speakers.

So I started watching Netflix series "Captive State" and in the home of one of the characters there's this vintage looking changer TT in a small console I cannot recognise. Any clue?

No it's not a Thorens. Dual perhaps? It looks to have a built in amplifier arranged along the right hand of the plinth.
