When you all get a chance, you must check out the Eminent Technology TRW-17 sub. This is more of a technological wonder than an artistic one, but interesting for what it claims it can do, and how it looks (think plane propeller). I actually heard that thing. It was scary. Lowest frewquencies I ever heard from a transducer.

So true.
I'd go over to Adire on the weekends when they were "officially" closed and Dan would be messing around with one thing or another. The Parthenon was like no other when it came to outputting bass. We even had it at a DIY Meet I organized some years ago. As is pretty evident, a lot of engineering went into the Parthenon and it resulted in what you see. In the bottom picture that Yamahalic posted (BTW: thanks!) you'll see some strange coil springs that required a lot of research, to first find the right alloy, and then to design a configuration to move the distanced involved. Two of those springs also carry the signal to the "voice coil", a kind of original dual purpose thinking that was abundant in the design. I might add that Dan told me that these springs were the hardest elements to get right in the whole design.

But, it is impressive!!!
