Unknown Speakers

I am certain my woofers are original as I cleaned off the 44 year old surrounds before I foamed them. I used the original paper rings around the outside of the woofers and original screw holes. The insulation in mine was the early yellow stuff. Here is a pic of the made in USA boxes.
@jedijay I know what you mean about lack of online info for these...just nothing out there when I looked as well. At least now we are putting down some history on the Avant 4A speakers for others to find later.

Thank you @Furburger

Great job @Furburger for posting the info on the 4A speakers for others to find someday! I'm curious about the manufacturer of the woofers, Jensen?

Agreed, also who made the Philips-esque tweeters? Interesting that they are mounted so deep in the baffle. Troels Gravesen established that this is bad, at least for the AD0160 in the OP's speakers, in his WWDT article. And what woofers does the OP have?

Also interesting to see the fixing screw orientation is somewhat random on numerous drivers.

They're only slightly recessed, and due to the stepped design of the tweeter's faceplate, I doubt it will have much affect on the sound. I'd be more concerned about how deeply inset the baffle is compared with the edges of the cabinet walls.

I have a set of Marantz speakers from the early 80s (during their ownership by Philips) that have the same tweeter, in a silver color.

From what I found that woofer is happy in 2 cu ft which is probably close right? Quite efficient so if you turn the pots for the other drivers up it could match quite well, and from what you’re hearing it does.
Not sure what filter the tweeter has but 0160 is a natural partner for 5060. Will be interested in how Furburger’s tweeters compare (kinda weird sentence btw).

Agreed re. cabinet walls, but Troels found the stepped faceplate to measure much better than the ‘moat’. I’d be tempted to fill that moat if they were mine, easy enough and standard parts exist for the 0160.

Perhaps they are a Philips part, not one I’ve seen and their drivers are fairly common here but then they made a big range across the globe.

ps it would be cool if someone could edit the title to add the correct details
