We had a similar tool used in aircraft maintenance, forgot the name for the moment. Imagine having to find a broken wire on a DC10 or 747 rudder! These were invaluable as we'd have to trace the wire starting from the avionics bay near the aircraft nose!

I've only used it once. But it worked!

That guy has the best explanation on YouTube. Even the company's video is confusing and incomplete.
