"vinyls" is here to stay.

Not in my house. They are still records.
And subs are true subwoofers, not standard woofers and certainly not 4" computer speaker woofers.

When I'm pushing up daisies call them anything you wish.
Pretty sure I won't reply.

All of us that are complaining about the use/misuse of words should listen to what passes for conversation in the inner city. I'm sure many of you have never heard such mangled up nonsense passing for English.

Know what I mean, Dog? Yo dog, where is you? Know what I mean?

When I was growing up my parents forbade the use of slang in our home.

Great thing about spending 23yrs in the melting pot of the Navy is that I can keep up with those conversations.

"Like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say..."

(alert - old geezer story) (smile)

When I was a kid I once made reference to my Mom as "she" in a response to my Dad. "She never told us ..... ".

Big mistake.

My Dad got in my face and made it clear - your Mother's name is Mom. If you ever say "she" or "her" again, you will regret it.

I only referred to my Mother as Mom after that.

If I ever hear a younger person refer to their parents using he or she or actual first name, it makes me cringe to this day - seems disrespectful.

Snade

It is disrespectful. Here is something I'm having Cafe Press custom print on a T-Shirt.spanking.jpg

I'm going to require that all things spoken of at my house be referred to as vinyls. It'll be tough, but in time we'll sort it out.
My father said he got a case of the vinyls in the war. Luckily a shot of penicillin cleared it right up.
