Wayne Shorter, sax jazz master passes.

Loved his collaborative solo(?) with Steve Gadd on Steely Dan's Aja. Just one from a gallery of inspirational works by Wayne.

RIP.

I'm recalling how when I first got into jazz music, in my late teens early 20s, that so much of the stuff had Wayne Shorter as an important part of it. Pivotal albums were "Miles Smiles," Weather Report's "Black Market," some Art Blakey stuff and Shorter's own Adam's Apple album. It seemed for me, everywhere I turned, the music that I was learning about had Shorter's stamp on it.

I had a hip friend who lent me all of these albums and I made cassette dubs that I listened to a lot. My own first copy of any of his stuff though was an LP that I managed to find in the cut out bin of the local mall record store (which at that time actually had interesting stuff as cut outs). This is a track from that album... which is still amazing stuff in my book...
