Weekly Estate and Garage sale finds (pics)

They are AC-DC so no power tranny. Not going to do too much damage if you do but I would bet that the older one is going to hum for sure. Two or three electrolytics and about 5 paper caps and if will probably play fine. I would change the electrolytics first but it probably won't kill them if you don't. They both have HOT chassis, so keep that in mind if you have the chassis out of the case or a knob off. You can get zapped very easily. Most old radio guys use an isolation transformer when working on these, but I never did. Just remember the chassis is live.

Thank you. I plugged the zenith in, and have some oldies playing right now. It sounds halfways good. Looks like maybe it was made in 1959.

Jensen TF-3's

Grand total of $12.41 tonight at auction. They need a bit of cleanup, but overall very solid for a set of old timers like these.

My first musical device

I had a GE clock radio just like this as a kid. I listened to the Dr Demento show every Sunday night. It's the piece I fell in love with music with. Don't remember what happened to the old one but I couldn't pass this up for $4.

Our neighbor across the street is having a sale of a lot of her grandmother's things. I found a couple tube radios and a cassette player.

That's not a cassette player, its a hard drive ! I remember using one of those for my Timex Sinclair.

A few new records this week at a yard sale

Bruce Springsteen: Nebraska and Born to Run
Cat Steven: Greatest Hits

Never really got into Springsteen but I've really enjoyed Nebraska so far.

That little Timex was how I learned Basic and has really helped even with Excel to this day. I still have an Atari 400 out in the garage along with a Coleco Adam.
