I've seen that album from time to time at the thrifts. So, should I pickup a copy?

I am digging it!
I have literally just started dipping into classical music over the past 2 days. I am a fan of Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream and this isn't a massive stretch...just more proggy sounding.
The consensus among the classical crowd is it is a good listen...i am agreeing with that!

Thinking about it, probably due to lyrics on the three omissions not being very radio friendly and hence not released as singles by Decca.

I agree with your line of thinking on this. It totally makes sense.
However, living in the Detroit radio market the majority of my life, those 3 songs were standard radio fare for ages!! I have known those songs practically all my life!
Call me a lucky guy i guess...

I'm assuming the sound quality and Dynamic Range are pretty good on this CD as well. Had to turn it UP after Beck's mellow Seachange!

Excellent verifiable consideration, he doesn't need to Blackmore Jr. the man is his own self. Reason no matter what he does he solidifies the band. I forgot to mention his time with Kansas as well.
What a resume.

Yeah, Rick....Got Tommy on Monday from Amazon, but I had to wait 'til today to listen to the 2nd LP from Tommy because somehow at the factory that re-printed the album stuffed Quadrophenia in the 2nd sleeve. Got the replacement today. Yeah, In a classic rock mood today.

Replacing some of my favorite albums--this one was pressed in Germany from the original 1974 master tapes. "Packaging replicated to the finest detail." Well, I beg to differ unless the European version looked like this. The original had embossed text on the cover that made it unique, as you can see from my two original copies. But, the sonics are terrific. Joni's voice is right in front of you dead center like there's a dedicated center speaker. I always zero in on the hi hats which are like canaries in a coal mine in terms engineering. Get those right and everything else seems to fall into place. Not just the timbre, but the way they sit in the mix. These engineers knew what they were doing in the 70's, and if you can hear the hi hat pedal opening and closing without dominating the 4-6 khz region, that's a pretty good indication of the quality of the mix overall. Only issue I'm hearing is that the hats are right and the ride is left. Was John Guerin left handed? I'll have to check it against the original. Joe Sample, Crosby/Nash, Larry Carlton, Robbie Robertson, Tom Scott--L.A. Royalty at the time.

Someone posted this Nazareth last week and mentioned it was the inspiration for Heart’s Barracuda. I learned today it was Joni Mitchell who wrote it in the 1st place..

Hey guys, Glad to be back. My brothers wife passed on at 1:21 pm yesterday after a brutal last two weeks, and a two year fight with pancreatic cancer.. It was all hands on deck for the family the last month and almost no normal day to day concerning anything since Thanksgiving. I snuck in a round of golf when I could and thankfully had this thread and you guys to bounce off and pass alot of time.
She was just 60 years old and very loved by Kelly, so Kelly was hit especially hard on top of her losing her mother just this past April.
I'm very glad to be home and hoping for peace and tranquility for all involved. My brothers doing very well, but has been on a constant vigil for two years, and frankly he seems relieved by her not suffering anymore. He hadn't slept in 3 days going into yesterday so I made him come back with me to the Fenwick Island place last night and have a good quality dinner and try to get rested until he got up this morning. He did both.
His boys are there now so it was my cue to go home.

My prayers are still with you and the family. Extra words for Kelly. Tell her I said so.

I'll have to pickup a copy if I see one.

Look for Herbert von Karajan (conductor) on classical albums. He's the best, IMO.
