I've almost certainly seen his stuff, but I just can't place the name right now... another guy who annoys me on occasion, is the decent, venerable old guy, Steve Gutenberg... I don't think I've heard him say anything negative about anything! lol :)

Funny you mention Denon HD- 8 tapes as they are my hands down all time favourite lank tapes. I still have a couple nos of those as well as some that I’ve recorded on. I always use Dolby C as well, I find it works great for me. Here’s some photos the stash , I also have a double sided case with about 60 TDK SA 90 new old stock tapes on it and there’s more here as well but o can’t get go easily right now lol. Regarding your first statement about CAM, I think you mean they "don't" ship? The guy I bought it from had about 21 CR3A's!!!! He was rebuilding and recalibrating as many as he could make up from his stash... Where he got them all I don't have a clue?! The Denon's are clearly very top-line cassettes, and like you, I find them far superior to any other tapes... I have about 20 that I recorded on once, and have erased, waiting for something special to record... I was never impressed with the TDK's myself... never tried Fuji's, so I don't have an opinion about them... The Maxells were good, but what I liked most about them was the shell was superior to all except maybe the Denons... I bought approx. 20 XLII S off some guy in BC for $80.00! They were recorded on by either a crap cassette deck or the bias and eq was set all wrong- I just erased them anyway, and these will be my "daily driver" cassettes, the Denons for something special... Now for the kicker... lol My MBL1610 (clone) preamp doesn't have a tape loop, so I can't use any currently! Bummer! :P

I don't care if folks change things for TV and movies -- you have to, really. But it kills me when they just completely alter fundamental aspects of the story.

Edited: just re-read and saw the project is stalled. Bummer. I hope he has the juice to pull it off someday.

I read the Chronicles of Amber when I was 10 or 11 and loved it. I'm pretty sure I read it shortly after reading The Sword of Shannara I was in grade 6 when I read both. My grade 5 teacher was a huge Tolkien nerd and read The Hobbit and LOTR in class. I have a bunch of Fantasy and Sci-Fi on my TBR.
