My old man was a lifer as well, retired as a first sergeant. He however died at 62. Did a few tours in Vietnam, was exposed to agent orange.
Well that wasn’t boring lol.
I actually parlayed it into more pay...told them they didn't have to pay their share of my med coverage...I wanted a piece back.
And for the record....I would still be in if they let me stay....

Sorry about your father. Dad enlisted in '47 (at 17), was part of Japan's occupation, served in Korea, served as a TI for a bit, was in Thailand in '69 and later assigned to OSI before retirement. An honorable service.

Only deployments I saw was Granada and Panama. Was only in for 8 years.Well that wasn’t boring lol.
I tried that with limited success lol. They wound up sweetening the 401k, They couldn’t just add To the paycheck because of their payroll set up. I never really tracked it
Have been working on clearing out our little garage out back all weekend. Was able to get some organizing done. Now we can potentially finish the kitchen, we have 2 cabinets left to mount and need to do the rang vent. Our 8 week project has been some of the best 3 years of my life lol
