What do you own that is TOTL?

I own nothing that is top of the line. If all my gear was top of the line what would I lust after or yearn for? Without aspirations, things get boring. And besides, if you ever get to the top of the line you can never stay there. The last car I bought was top of the line - no more factory options you could add to it. Two years later The Factory cobbled together a new Top-Of-The-Line with even more bells and whistles than mine had. My former top of the line became a nicely optioned middle of the line. Well, The Rolling Stones can't get no satisfaction, but I can. My stereo sounds fine, my now middle of the line car is still fun to drive. I'm happy with what I got.

Beyerdynamic T1 Tesla - still TOTL, I think.
Audeze LCD-2 - no longer, but were up until the LCD-3 were released.
 
In no particular order:

Sony DST whole-house components (they only made one system, so by default it's TOTL): TA-DM1000ES, TA-DL100, TC-WR99ES would have been TOTL deck at the time, same for ST-S730ES tuner, and CDP-C90ES was the TOTL 10-disc model though not their most expensive CD, that would have been a single-disc model probably.

Sony PS-X7 TT should have been TOTL unless they had an exotic broadcast-grade model at the same time

Nakamichi Dragon, CR-7A, 550 - all TOTL at their respective times

Beocord 9000, Beocenter 9000

dbx 3BX series 11, original 3BX

Not much in the way of TOTL speakers. I think the JBL L150A was probably down 1 or 2 from the top in the years it was sold (L220 or L300 would have been higher). My vintage ADS are all similar, down a notch or two from the best/most expensive model. I do have some HT800iw in-walls and a pair of prototype towers made from them that were/would have been TOTL at the time.

Mobile audio gear, a/d/s/ 300i/s and 320i/s were their best models in those days. Same for the 346cs components, they were the best model offered then. Also have a px/a power amp which was not only TOTL but very low-volume & expensive. Also have some TOTL Zapco stuff: model 200 power amps (the 3-piece ones) and SX equalizer/crossover. Also Sony ES XES system: XES-P1, X1, C1, T - couple of those systems plus a spare or two. And, behind that an RM-X2001/CDX-2001 TOTL system from a couple of years earlier.

Then there's Tandberg:

64x RTR - their best in the 60's (for hifi use anyway)
TR 2075, TOTL in mid-70's
2075 MkII replaced it for a year or two as the flagship
2080 ditto, replaced the MkII
TCD 330 was TOTL in '76
TCD 310 was TOTL (only) deck prior to that
TCD 340A replaced the 330
TCD 440A replaced 340A
3004 replaced the 440A
3014 replaced the 3004
3014A replaced the 3014
9041X RTR was TOTL when it launched, replaced later by 9100/9200XD
10XD was TOTL open reel after that
TD 20A replaced the 10XD
TD 20A SE surpassed the 20A as TOTL
3018A - their best preamp
3008A was their best preamp when it launched, until the 3018A came along
3016A - their biggest/most expensive amp
3026A - I think this was around before the 3016A, if so it was TOTL when launched

3015A - arguably their TOTL CD player though it was early/dual 14-bit Philips-based, and 16-bit machines replaced it later

my akai at-2600 tuner. sounds great minus the whole hd radio noise garbage. too bad since this is a great piece of gear. thank god she has mono and high filter switches.

Sony PS-X9. I generally consider the X7, X70 and X75 to have been TOTL for their consumer gear in their respective time periods, as the X9 was prohibitively expensive.

I was thinking of the PS-X9 when I wrote that, knew about it but had no idea whether it overlapped the PS-X7 though seemed reasonable to think it had given the consistent model nomenclature. I agree with your take on that though; really apples and oranges for purposes of this thread.

No worries... I threw myself under there recently by not keeping things quite as organized as usual; had gotten lazy and was just adding pieces of equipment wherever it fit in one of our spare bedrooms (standing carefully on end on carpet mind you - this is good stuff, not some stacking nightmare). I hadn't made any effort to be efficient with where I put things for a good 2-3 months at least. She walked in there to go in the closet to retrieve some Xmas stuff. Only made it two feet inside the door, and had to retreat. I got an earful about "this is hoarding" which didn't dissipate until I'd 1) reorganized the equipment to allow easy access again, and 2) pointed out that I could pay the mortgage from liquidating that room for at least a couple of years, if it came to it.

The X9 was a bit weird in that it overlapped at least the X7 and X70 in production, and I think even the X75. The closest relative among the consumer tables was probably the X70, as that arm was a consumerized version of the X9's.
