"Let us pretend that we are in the drawing room and the hostess is serving tea... Now many numerous little questions confront us. Should the man rise when he accepts his cup of tea? May lump sugar be taken with the fingers? Is it good form to accept a second cup? Should the napkin be entirely unfolded or should the centre crease be allowed to remain?
It is so easy to commit embarrassing blunders, but etiquette tells us just what is expected of us and guards us from all humiliation and discomfort.
Mmm, Boring...yes.... Let us switch to, uh... to some poetry, hm?
"There was an old man from the Cape, who made himself garments of crepe. When asked: will they tear? He replied: Here and there, but they keep such a beautiful shape!"
That's right. Go ahead, smile, it's funny. That's right. "

From the 1993 Cult Classic "Dazed and Confused." The character is Mitch Kramer and the picture is him laying on his bed after sneeking back into the house after his first High School Party.

The movie reminds me very much of what it was like for me in High School during the mid-70's.............

Mine is a photo of a painting of my grandfather, who was once ranked #2 or #3 in the world back in the thirties. He once fought in Chicago while staying at Al Capone's hotel. After the bout, my grandfather and his entourage were having dinner at the hotel when Mr. Capone approched him and asked if he would be interested in staying in Chicago to fight for his camp. My grandfather declined the offer and lived to tell about it. Mr Capone proceeded to pick up my grandfather's 2 week tab at the hotel, including dinner.

Wow, very interesting and compelling story, Carl!

The picture is my grandfather on the back porch of his farm house in Bayou, KY. The dog's name was Muggins. The photo was taken before I was born -- and I am comfortably into my 50s now. I am named for my grandfather, and everybody called him 'Mr. Fred', hence my user ID.

p.s. I remember him very very well.

It's Lee Marvin 'resting'. He played a dual role, a 'slightly' over-the-hill gunslinger Kid Shelleen and psychotic hit man Tim Strawn, in the 1965 movie Cat Ballou.

Mine is a graph that shows the per capita electricity consumption of:

India (smallest)
World Average
OECD (Avg of 34 countries in NA, Europe, South America, Australia including the USA)
USA (Biggest by far)
China
S. Korea
Japan

I've worked in the Solar industry for several years now, still trying to get my "tree hugger" on.

Time magazine portraying the Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich doing a fireman gig during the siege of Leningrad.

Apparently it was one of the longest and most destructive sieges in history and one of the most costly in terms of casualties, says wiki.

My man Dmitri didn't cut out to become a soldier so he instead did a volunteer fireman gig. But he composed his Symphony No 7, probably the best thing that came out of the siege.

My favourite recording is Lenny Bernstein conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (DG). I attended Vasily Petrenko's live performance of this piece with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra last year too. He too is one of my favourite conductors.

The tube, transistor and integrated circuit amp chip represent my interest in audio electronics and the enjoyment in building amplifiers.

Mines a cover of an old Foghat album. Owned it for a while before I actually realized what it meant; rock and roll.

Since the weather has been nice and I've been surfing a lot, I changed mine to Kassia Meador. One of the best and graceful longboard surfers.

Mine is a screencap from the movie "Bronson" about the UK's most famous prisoner.

Bronson had taken an hostage inside the prison, and had demanded the guards bring a stereo to play music.

Well.....
