What Is Your Favorite Integrated Amp?

1-1225264628.jpg

I'm biased.
So beautiful...

I love Pioneer fluoroscan gear.

-D

My favorites, the Technics SU-8600, so good even the neighbors liked it! One day I walked up the street and the folks half a block away commented on how nice my stereo sounded. I had it set up in my garage driving a pair of Dynaco A-10's,the little buggers loved that amp, until the right channel went out, gotta get that fixed one of these days.
Followed by my Pioneer SA-7100, the little brother that still sounds fab, interesting that both the SU-8600 and SA-7100 were found on the roadside on garbage night!
Lastly, my Sansui AU-7700, still a great sounding IA that has flexible controls for tweaking the sound just so, problem being, it seems there is always some fiddling going on and less actual listening, maybe too much of a good thing.

The L-100 is not heard about much. When I was a Lux dealer we tried it out and hands downtown was one of the best integrated amps of the time. I finally decided to pullone from stock for a long term test only to find all were gone while none sold. I discovered it was a favorite of some of my employees who had an unknown to be me profit sharing plan going.

Onkyo A-5 . Big fan.
I haven't had too many, but I still have me A-5 that I bought new in 1977. It still works great. These definitely flew under the radar a bit. I'm also a fan of my Philips FA-960. Bought that new in 1990 and it is still my main systems' anchor.

That's very nice!
BTW- what's the iPod dock & little box next to it?

Thanks ! The iPod is sitting in a Wadia iPod dock that was the first to be able to extract the pure digital bitstream directly from the iPod and feed it independently to a standalone DAC (in my system a Monarchy DAC pictured below the Mac. 6900) and it thus bypasses the cheap built in DAC of the iPod.

If you load all lossless content onto your iPod it basically becomes a transport with this setup and the quality is as good as a mid-level CDP. The little box next to it is a separate power supply made by Channel Island especially for the Wadia iPod dock – as a system it all works very well for what it is…..

My main system: NAD 317
Rotated in the Office system: Marantz 1070

Both have also served as preamps for higher power amps at one time or another.

My all time favorites which I do own:

Marantz pm 15 (of course to original)
But a really awesome amp is the Sansui AU-X1
