welcome to AK you have some odd ball speakers there .. it looks to me that they need a wall to work as intended . i have had speakers with rear ports and front firing drivers but never seen rear firing drivers and front ports and tweeters . unless the wiring is intended to be in view on the fronts .. still a bit odd though

The tweeter looks like a SEAS H211. That was used in a number of speakers. But no telling what those started as.

Whatever they are, it looks like the woofers have been replaced.

Not necessarily. That could be a period Carbonneau, Gefco or Peerless/Precision woofer. There were quite a number of those that looked similar to those woofers- poly cones and rubber surrounds. A look at the back of the frame, would be the only reliable way to tell for sure.

Regards,
Gordon.

Sheesh! That is one of the most whacked out speaker designs I have ever seen, but at least they can be "corrected" with some woodworking effort. Just relocate the tweeter to the same baffle that has the woofer and midrange mounted on it and move the connector panel to where the tweeter was on a piece of wood to cover the tweeter opening. The drivers look decent, so it would likely be worth the effort along with a recap in the process.

But then one wouldn't be able to show off their pricey purist silver/gold ultra crescendo speaker wire.

Interesting design, most likely uses the wall to reflect the sound. Axiom AX3/5 had rear firing woofers and a front port, though the mids were on the front baffle.

OP could try listening to them before bastardizing them.
Agree that a recap would likely be worthwhile.

Yeah have no intent of redoing them just trying to find out if anyone had any info on them

You certainly tripped over a pair of speakers well off the beaten path.
I'd be interested in hearing how they sound.
Different can be very good indeed,
Please post your impressions once you get them sorted out.
Very cool.
